The older I get the shorter my short-term memory gets. And it fails completely about 80% of the time I walk through a door.
Pro-tip: Walking (immediately) back through the door recovers the reason about half the time. And deliberately DECIDING to go to the other room BECAUSE … works 95% of the time.
The best memories are the ones you look back on and instantly smile! I am glad to have a few of those instant smile events I can fall back on and remember :0)
Son told me he was going into a room to get something but, when he went in, he couldn’t remember it. So, just for a lark, he backed out of the room and was surprised that the memory returned.
He had discovered a very old memory trick. When he backed out of the room, he saw the scene as it was when he thought of the item. Memory was recast. It works.

And just yesterday, the peanut gallery was accusing Caulfield of not being very bright. I think he is smart in many ways, but very stubborn in others.

Exactly what room did he walk into to do something and Caulfield happens to be walking by in that room?

When someone asks, “Now what did I come into this room for?” the best response is “You wanted to have sex.”
You might want to make an effort to remember that.

What did Caulfied meant when saying „new ones“? New memories or new problems?

His perspective leaves one thinking and that’s a good thing.
