Looks like Rat #1 caught up to the fox and they had it out. Fox lost.

…or they both got in a mortal shot, but the rat’s death is slower.

You don’t suppose the rat is actually feeling a tinge of conscience…?

Wolf knifed the rat (the wolf was still holding the murder weapon as he ran), the rat shot and killed the wolf, and now the rat is apparently mortally wounded. No winners in that fight. When the news of the wolf’s death spreads, the schism between opposing groups will widen further. Who will be the unifying force to mend Endtown?

If the rats had stuck together they might have collared the wolf without bloodshed; he had a knife, and the rats obviously do carry guns.

Rat #2 couldn’t get around in time to help Rat #1, and had to double back. Couldn’t scale the fence.

I’ve seen this somewhere before. Ah, the fight scene between Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul, Episode 1, No Hope.

Why is there a fountain of blood spurting up from the wolf’s head? Still, after all the time it took Ben to go back around? With that much blood, it surely couldn’t still be spurting!

This is starting to make my hair stand on end.

Why would letting him die be considered a favor? What type of horrible consequences is he facing, that he’d rather die? Is Marx’s ominous prophecy to Jackrabbit beginning to manifest itself?

Hold on to your hats, folks… this isn’t the Endtown we know.

Still leaves the question of why we’re back to a plot thread from several years ago that seemed to have been closed. Do we find out what happened to the third boat in 2027?

Why have we seque’d into this story line? What about the battle on the beach and our hero Wally?

For those who are concerned about Endtown ending, Aaron just said that this is the beginning of a major part of the story, with many current and past characters we thought were done, such as Albert and Gustine, and obscure characters who actually have greater roles. What we’ve seen up to now is just a warmup. This storyline will close out Book One, implying more books.
