It’s really bad when the people being idolized in the movies, TV, or even the stage have to push something on the media. It sort of makes the image of what they appear to be on screen, fade and fizzle out with disillusionment.
In 1950, the value gold $40.25. per ounce. As of 8:41 AM EST on January 25, 2025, the price of gold was $2,785.02 per ounce. How is the US dollar doing?
It’s worse when you start reading their obituaries. And MUCH worse when you suddenly realize it’s been decades since they passed away. (RIP, Dean Martin, Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra….and so many more!)
Except for a Super Bowl ad he did once I don’t remember Clint Eastwood ever doing a commercial – which most of his fellow actors his age end up doing. He has said “I get up every morning and I go out. And I don’t let the old man in”. That’s a great inspiration for anyone who thinks their usefulness is behind them.
You mean my “formerly” favorite celebs? Are they really so poor they have to hawk garbage products…car shield, endurance (shame on you Danica), reverse mortgages, and medicare (really Not medicare) part C insurance?

I know I’m getting old when my teen heartthrob, Mary Ann from Gilligan’s Island, died FOUR YEARS AGO!
And the only castaway from Gilligan’s Island still alive today is Ginger the Movie Star! God bless her and long life to her.

The surest sign that your getting old is when friends stop saying you’re good looking and start saying that you’re looking good.
