Another plus for modular computersā¦the monitor loss wouldnāt stop keyboard commands to the tower for saving to a Raid array, with external drives perhaps. These days even optical fiber lead length might hamper speed, but still get the job done.
Maybe 15 years ago, I was housesitting. I brought my desktop with me but left my UPS at home. I always have too much unsaved work on my desk. A derecho came through. As winds picked up, I decided to put the computer into hibernate and pull the plug for a while.
Everything was fine while it was saving the work for me. I crawled under the desk to pull the plug. Power glitched. The computer decided I wanted to wake it up. It reloaded everything and before it finished, power went out for a few days.
