Always wash with the inside out. The inside is probably the dirtiest, and also protects the flocking or nice decoration/statement/label/brand… from wear and tear.
I saw pic that someone posted on the interwebs, so it has to be true, it was of a shirt tag that was poorly translated that said to “remove child from clothing item before washing.” Bonjour!
I’ve done testing and underwear has a preferred condition – inside out. Put them all in right side out and some will turn. Put them all in inside out and fewer will turn back. They seem to have a preferred orientation. Perhaps the way they’re manufactured? I don’t know.
Just the opposite happens to me. I turn my tees inside out so the washing doesn’t wear off the front decal, and somehow they always turn back out. I don’t get it….LOL!

Button them up first, then they don’t.

My gym shorts do that, not so much my tee shirts.

So true. Or only one leg of the pants is inside out.

I know. It’s very aggravating.

I’ve never had this happen. Once more I have failed at Pluggerism.

What gets me is when the dryer balls goes into the sleeves….

Or nothing linty goes into the wash but they all come out with it on them.

You’ll probably find a sock in the sleeve.

Pants leg and a shirt sleeve tied into a square knot. In the future I must remember the sacrificial sock.

And socks go in in pairs and at least one orphan comes out.

Pillow cases! I always make sure I have them right side before washing and they end up completely inside out! How?!
