Used to do that for our dog. He loved being out in winter but was so small he got lost in the snow, so we dug out a circuit of paths around the yard hitting four different trees so he could go in a variety of directions and run till his little legs were too tired.
Perhaps a shrub next to the door, when you want expedite things while you’re wearing just a robe. Perhaps the dog will have mercy on you for a day and put off checking their messages on the tree down the block.
