    Big Announcement:

Jenny Blake is now Tony Isabellaā€™s preferred name. Sheā€™ll continue to write some of her Last Kiss comics, however, as Tony Isabella. Iā€™m delighted to have both as guest writers here!

Mansplaining and gaslighting are to be fought whenever encountered.

She reminds me of Gale Storm in the old sitcom ā€œMy Little Margieā€.

Just guessing but Iā€™ll bet very few parents in Australia name their daughter ā€œShielaā€.

Itā€™s similar to the ā€˜five-second rule for food dropped to the floorā€™. Good ideas dropped in a meeting belong to anyone who picks them up on them after 15 minutes of being unacknowledged. Especially if that anyone is a company Executive.

This has a double hook: male/female idea; boss/employee idea. Neither one is acceptable.

During an outage caused by a hurricane my neighbor and his brother were trying to figure out how to remove a branch that was lying across the power and phone lines to their house, The SIL was telling them to grab one low hanging end and pull it back under the wires and the whole branch would be levered off but they werenā€™t listening. I put on my hardhat (I worked at the powerplant) and just walked over and did exactly what she was saying and it worked. The guys were all for high-fiving me and the gals were spitting nails. When I told the guys whose idea it was I thought she was going to kiss me. Never did, unfortunately.

If his hair was orange this could be the White House.

I had a boss who was famous for turning our ā€œbad ideasā€ into his ā€œgreat ideasā€. At least he was an equal opportunity thief.

Later, Gladys quit, started her own company, acquired ā€œidea manā€™sā€ company in a hostile takeover, and promptly fired him and his two butt-kissinā€™ lackeys, leaving them penniless.

Thatā€™s why I work for myself but, still, my boss always steals my ideas.

Sometimes the only way to get your idea accepted is to convince them it was THEIR idea.

    (I am convinced of this.)
