That is a real book. I Googled “1964 Chevrolet assembly manual.” The artwork is dead-on, except that the black triangle on the cover is actually red.

He should head over to the yard sale and see if there are any parts to be had.

Amazon has a manual on cd-rom for 61-64 Chevys including the Impala. The manual includes 1700 pages of info.

Now get that eyesore out of our yard.

I once bought a Camaro in a million pieces, and about 100,000 pieces were missing. I bought an assembly manual, it helped a lot.

I feel Baldo needs direction with this car. For the longest time he was trying to get it running, but was missing a door and most of the front suspension. His dad got him tires and rims, the typical lowrider style, and the front suspension suddenly appeared. Find a door, and do something about the convertible top. Probably has a small block Chevy, easy to work on and find parts for.

Again, the car he has is a 62, not 64.

My dad had a ’64 Bel Air. The transmission went out in and he got a "66 Rambler Classic.

My assembly was begun in 1963 and completed in early 1964. I don’t think Mom needed a manual. :)

I bought my first car when I was 16 for $225. It was ’67 VW Bug that needed a lot of work but it was mine. The best thing my dad ever did was to by me the book, “How to Keep Your Bug Alive For the Complete Idiot” (first edition). That book has been well used through decades and I later passed it on to my daughter to use when she bought her own `72 Bug. With very little help from the old man, she was able to repair the car, and go from a non-running condition to a daily driver. I was so proud!

Yes, this was a very nice gesture; however, now Baldo will now need approximately $18,000.00 for parts to follow the manual and have a complete rebuilt auto. He could also check the VIN number and find out if it is a ’62, ’63, ’64 or whatever! It might be interesting to note that an original manual like Tia Carmen has presented might be just as valuable as the old car in the driveway to some auto memorabilia collectors!

I would think he actually needs the service manual. The car is pretty much assembled – it just needs fixing.

Fun fact: the only book publishing company that would take the original “Dune” manuscript by Frank Herbert was the Chilton company, makers of auto repair manuals.

Guess this would make sense if internet didn’t exist.

I had a ‘62 Chevy impala SS 2 door hard top.(but not convertible) Sweet car, wish I still had it. Best car I ever had in my youth. That looks nothing like a ‘64 – the front end and grill is a give away

i have always said that the car is a metaphor for life … Tia Carman just gave him a manuel to build his life … i ask you this … what better gift can one give to another???
