I used to think that, that humor, jokes etc stem from depression or other types of sadness as a coverup. With some people I do think that’s quite the case. But not all. Humor can also come out of various curiosities and wonder at various diversities of life and nature etc.
I read a book about Lincoln’s fight with depression. He was noted for his wit and humor. I have always wanted to be a wit. I think I’m about half-way there.
Hum….maybe true in some cases I guess. I’ve always felt it was someones way of expresing themselves and the people around them, as well as the world around them in a unique way that we can relate to on some level. For me depression usually quells the desire to be outgoing or entertaining.
