The days of Mark Fidrych, “The Bird”. Detroit Tigers pitcher who used to fix the mound with his bare hand, talk to the baseball and played with so much boyish enthusiasm that you couldn’t help but love the guy. Sadly, injuries shortened his career.

In my day you didn’t say good-bye to the baseball, you chased after it so you could continue to play.

At least Charlie knows his limits…

Have to love Charlie Brown. He has the kind of days we all have, and never gives up.

With the pitch clock there is not as much time to talk to the ball now.

NA NA NA NA, NA NA NA NA, HEY HEY HEY, GOODBYE…

Bring back Peppermint Patty and her ice skating! Well, and sleeping in class with the crabby teacher.

Though I don’t recall it ever being mentioned in the Peanuts strip, Charlie Brown must be a pretty competent pitcher, considering how often the opposing team(s?) actually hit the ball.

It’s going, going, going, gone!

Isn’t Lucy supposed to be in the outfield?

And the batter says, to quote the late, great Bob Uecker: “Get up, get up, get outta here and GONE!”

Charlie Brown, if you love it let it go, if it loves you it’ll fly back.

That’s what I used to say to the ball when we played pickup baseball at work. I always got stuck in the pitching position because people could score so many runs off me.

While playing games, whenever I talk to the ball, or dice, I just make it angry. :-(

If Charlie Brown is pitching, EVERYONE says good bye to the ball.

At least he didn’t end in a state of deshabille this time.

The good old days of the Bird Fidrych, now there’s a blast from the past ! ;-)
