Actually, the end of the compass labeled “N” or painted red is the “North seeking pole.” It’s really the south pole, cut people got confused so it was renamed.
The magnet on the pointed end of the needle in the compass is the same as the “south” end on a bar magnet. That’s why the needle points to the north.
One of my favorite sentence prefixes is “You think….” As if the person speaking is a mind reader. Change that to, “You said,” and we’ll have a conversation.
Of all people, Boring Bob has to stop in the Rose and Crown. He better buy Capp a pint or it is off the Spotted Duck. One man can only take so much of Boring Bob without compensation.
Fascinating stuff Bob. But Wallace tops this I think with his observation that if you travel North and keep going, you eventually start traveling south, but if you travel East and keep going, you will still always be traveling East ;) That one would make Andy’s eyes go glassy faster than a yard of Ale.
