Donât get me started on my daughterâs car. Oh, you didnât ask? Soâs anyway, she hadnât washed her car in the 5 years sheâs owned it. So, when we came to visit, I took one look at her car and I took it through a carwash, but the crud was so stuck that you couldnât get it off with a blow torch. Happy ending: We moved to the same city, and she had just bought a new car, so every time we visit her, I take her car to wash and vacuum. Now if we could just get her to clean her apartment.
That wouldnât have worked in Peoria last week. The line of thunderstorms and tornados sucked up the good olâ Illinois topsoil creating brown clouds and mud rain.
F150 XLT truck I drive the most is a 2018 with about 40,000 miles. Been washed once. I rinse it off weekly with garden hose normally but Pollen falling so bad now, I hose down daily. We take the good with the bad. Learned that from Bible Book of JOB. Job 2:10
I probably should wash one of mine â last time it was done would have been October, the other should OK it was done in November (and has sat in garage since â need to check itâs still on charge)
it was finally warm enough on a recent calm day that i got motivated to wash the windows and it was great to briefly enjoy a clear view of the still snow-covered mountains. then the wind came up off the ocean and deposited a fresh layer of salt⊠âș
I donât manually wash my car as often as I should. However, I too, let the rain wash my car and as I live in the Pacific Northwest, it pretty well gets washed a couple of times a weekâŠâŠ
Ah, Brutus, Iâm not surprised that you donât want to take your car to the car wash (I wonât even get into the remote possibility that weâll ever see you in your driveway with hose, bucket and sponges, doing the job yourself). No doubt youâre still traumatized by your car wash nightmare of September 1, 2024.
I owe Brutus an apology (see my comment above). Continuing to browse through the strips of last September, I was reminded that on September 14, 2024, he declared that he was sick of washing his car every Saturday. No trauma, no laziness â heâs just fed up with that weekly chore!
My dad was the exact opposite. Every Saturday afternoon was dedicated to washing his car. Yet it always rained after he washed it which really annoyed him. One time we were going through a really long dry spell when it hadnât rained for about 3 weeks. Dad had a long drive to work and the Government had issued a hosepipe ban and we werenât allowed to wash cars or use anything else other than a watering can to water the garden to help preserve water. After 3 weeks of not being able to wash his car Dad was getting upset about its filthy state. One Saturday he snapped and just went out and washed it with a bucket of water and just hosed it down. After he had finished he went inside. Only about 10 minutes later the clouds gathered and for the first time in nearly a month the heavens opened and it poured with rain and didnât let up for about 3 hours. We told him he should have washed his car weeks previous to this so he could have finished the drought long since.

If its a warm rain, I wash it. Easier than in sun and it rinses cleaner.
