Washington, Boston, and New York are coming out with another announcement that Global Warming is going to destroy the earth as soon as they dig themselves out from another blizzard.
I usually try to stay non-political, but this is a pet peeve for me. I apologize in advance for the rant.
I have to agree with FishStix, I studied the theory of science itself in university, most of what I have heard about GW is bad science. They are assuming the conclusion, and then massaging the data to fit it, and suppressing any that doesn’t. There is insufficient data to prove anything other than weather is fickle. If they have such an accurate understanding of the weather, why can’t they accurately predict it more than a few days in advance?
We have at best a hundred years of accurate temperature data, and only half of that would be global in nature, and they are trying to use it to extrapolate the patterns of a thousands of years old complex global system down to fractions of a %. There is a principle known as Occam’s Razor : Don’t look for a complex solution when there is an easier one. The sun and its energy output (which also varies according to cycles that are measured in multiple years) has a far greater impact on the weather than puny man. I do believe that man needs to clean up his act as far as pollution is concerned, but GW appears to be just as much a guess as the GC they were warning about a couple of decades ago. The real problem is that this time it got political.
Agree or disagree with me if you will, that is my opinion.
The best part about the cartoon is the cloud/smoke from the volcano in the background which would make man’s contribution to global warming/cooling/recalcitrant climate perturbation instantly insignificant.
I’m not going to say yay or nay, because I don’t know enough about the science involved on either side (plus, I probably won’t be around long enough to find out who’s right), but I would like people to remember one important issue. Climate and weather are two different things - they are not the same at all.

Anyone who would believe James Hanson is a customer for the Brooklyn Bridge and still thinks that Piltdown Man was real.
