Most comics these days are colored by people the publish hires, not the comic creator itself. I don’t know if Trudeau colors his own or not, but I personally doubt it. That’s probably why the colors change. In this scenario, he would draw a black and which which is kept on file.
Dusters were and are long coats with a deep split in the back – very popular for horseback, where the split is open so that the coat comes down over the legs.
