There are two comics on this website that I love the most. This one and Calvin: reason being that I can read and re-read; I love going back several days and reading the comments that weren’t there when I first read the strip. There is so much philosophical insight by the commenters!
But I really really really hope Lila makes progress so she doesn’t get fired. I want her to be a good parent for Annie. I realize that takes the strip in a new direction but so what?
JWF – Must add my compliments on a superb strip: fresh, funny and wonderfully narrative. Never know where you’re going. Such inventive twists and turns.
What an interesting dynamic. Drew is Lila’s friend but also her manager. But then, Payne is the boss. He likes Lila. So Drew needs Lila to shape up (probably in part because Drew is judged on the aggregate call center numbers). But Drew has nothing with which to threaten Lila.Time for Drew to get out that most important stick: peer pressure. Subtly telling other employees that they have to pick up Lila’s slack—including Boyd—would cause the office to slowly move from “Oh, that incorrigible Lila” tolerance to “Time to shape up, Lila.” If you can’t threaten employment or salary, change the environment.I’m enjoying this arc!
People think I’m my boss’ favorite and instead of being a slacker like most of my colleages I’m expected to do my job and everyone elses. Being a great employee is definitely a double edged sword.

I keep wondering why Lila is not “Mrs Wiggins” to Mr Pain’s “Mr Tudball” (Carol Burnett Show).

Love it. Though being the boss’ favorite is hardly limited to females.

Thank YOU, Fer Lefer. I’m blushing…really…and not because you used the word, “cleavage.”

Hasn’t the Peter Principle already promoted Lila as far as she can rise?
