You know Kate’s just messing with Danae, all of the pages have words – there’s no pictures in any of them.

This is beginning to make me wonder what sort of stuff Kate is getting away with. She can probably get away with all sorts of things because dad is so focused on Danae that he won’t see what sneaky, naughty things Kate is up to.

The distinction between manipulation and leadership is a subtle one, it’s true. The techniques can be similar — appealing to others’ natural, personal inclinations to frame what you want them to do them in terms that they’ll accept as being something they want to do also…and even think it was their idea in the first place..But neither one is inherently evil. The difference is in the intention: with manipulation, to satisfy your own selfish ends alone; with leadership (or teaching, or parenting), to build the others up as better people and together accomplish some higher good.

I wouldn’t have imagined that Danae was aliterate (not illiterate) to begin with. She has a good vocabulary, and is more intellectually sophisticated than most of her peers, and there’s nothing better suited to either of those than reading avidly.

In answer to your question, no. I’ve never done this storyline before, nor any similar to it. Don’t know what makes you think that.

They’re both intelligent girls but on different sides of the “battle.” Kate seems to be mostly good except when she can yank Danae’s chain. Love it.

“But isn’t manipulation, even for good intentions inherently evil?”

So you’re saying that Princess Celestia was just as Evil as Nightmare Moon was for, arguably, “manipulating” Twilight Sparkle and her new-found friends into stopping Nightmare Moon from bringing an Eternal Night to Equestria and bringing back her sister Luna?
