In the NFL, uniform number 35 would be a running back, defensive cornerback, or defensive safety. As leakysqueaky712 and Grog point out, he looks kind of big for those positions ā more like an offensive or defensive lineman. I think colleges follow basically the same rule, but Iām not sure about that.
As an Offensive Lineman or a Defensive Lineman he would certainly have the wrong number (in which the dialogue is a case of the pot calling the kettle black), but apparently heās a Telephone Lineman, so who are we to judge?
Maybe he IS talking to the Telephone Line Judge, since heās complaining about a bad call.
Are you implying that ā35ā here is a reference to the Nuremberg Race Laws (āNĆ¼rnberger Gesetzeā), enacted by Nazi Germany in 1935? Do you think that the caller is Jewish, and is therefore forbidden from talking to a football player? Are you suggesting that non-Aryans canāt excel at sports? Well, HerrGrainbelt, I believe Mister JESSE OWENS had something to say about THAT, in 1936!
