Let’s see. Is it “Fall forward, spring back.” Or is it “Spring forward, fall back”?

“Spring forward, lest you Fall behind.” Doesn’t work for Bria9in, however, where Fall is called Autumn…..

In this strip the male characters are always emotionally damaged in some way such as Brad’s immaturity, TJ’s deviousnesss, Gunther’s nerdiness, Aaron Hill’s narcissism, and Mr. Degroot’s constant state of confusion. Only the foreign exchange students that Luann encounters seem to have any self worth. On the other hand the female characters are usually stronger and in control such as Delta, Bernice, Mrs. Degroot, Toni, and even Tiffany. The males in this strip just can’t figure out the opposite sex. It’s like there is a few pieces missing in a beautiful puzzle or a book without an ending.

    That’s cold, Nancy. :D.

Oakridge and MojitoB — I’ve noticed that if I wait long enough, my clocks and watches will set themselves to the right time.

    Yeah, about 5 months.

A lot of things are probably not the same in Bria9in, it obviously being some alien planet.

And Mighty Mouse, of course the leaves don’t “drop”.

Everything in Australia falls up, cos it’s all upside down and backwards there.

0920EST. computer says 1420. nothing changes here. i get up whenever i want. i didn’t change the clock to EDT so i didn’t have to change it back. the cat still gets me up for breakfast at the same time every day (“hungry, now!” time.), so that’s another strike. the coffee perks when i start it up, the sun is up and the day starts just fine without clocks. you’re not “saving” anything, much less daylight. evangelicals are into “saving”, maybe you could get help from there. XD

It sort of made sense starting DST in April, ending early in October, but starting it in March, a week before the Vernal Equinox, when there’s still an unequal amount of daylight/night, serves no useful purpose whatsoever. Ditto for ending it a month and a half after the Autumnal Equinox.

Is there some sort of lobbying group that’s paying off people in DeeCee?

I am glad that we in Phoenix don’t do DST. Of course, that could mess up catching on various national shows- but now I do radio only while driving and TiVo gets my dozens of TV favs and saves for when I chose to watch.

From a FB quote: “When told the reason for daylight savings time, the old Indian Chief said, ‘Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket.’”

Have to agree – it just does not make sense.

“A funny bit of business here between a long married couple and some people here have to try and sour it.”

Who’s “souring” it? And how – by discussing DST? Or even how Greg depects men vs women? That last isn’t a new development on Greg’s part – Frank is often the butt of Nancy’s “zinger” sense of humor, but he’s even-keeled and good natured about it and always springs back – often to zing her back when she least expects it.

My husband was a mathematician and he could never figure it out. He was confused by the words “forward” and “back,” as when you move an appointment date forward, that means the appointment occurs on an earlier calendar date, and when you move it back, it occurs later. These are opposite directions from what we do with a clock. But in the spring, if you forget to set your clock forward, you will be late, and if you forget that an appointment has been moved forward, you will miss the appointment. With a PhD, I thought my husband could figure it out from there, but I always ended up being the one to reset every thing. His grandmother kept one clock in the house set at Standard Time, which she called “God’s Time.”

Very true comments by most (and I also loved Nancy’s kidding of Frank), When I was working full time a decade or so ago I was happy that we don’t change here in AZ and hated that we did back in IL – I used to have cheap digital watches of many different colors and patterns and it could occupy much more than an hour with VCRs, ovens and clocks around the house. Now it’s just trying to remember and remind my kids in IL, CO and TX what time difference we currently have.

The pain about going back and forth from/to Daylight Saving is that each timepiece has to be handled a different way. And doing something only twice a year is not often enough to remember how!

    Now the authoritative version is:

    SPRING FORWARD, FALL BACK!!

Daylight Savings Time is a nuisance, with little real tangible evidence of any real benefit (and the generic “for the children” hot button doesn’t wash in this case). DST needs to go.

I do read them, but due to the fact that I asked you to explain how you thought they “soured” the strip, obviously I have a different take on them than you do.

If you can’t give a better explanation for your comment than that, that sort of says it all.
