The artwork on this strip has improved so much over the years, that Luann is now the beauty and Tiff is a TammyFaye Baker of a train wreck. But Luann needs to run after Quinn and plant a big good bye kiss on before he leaves, maybe even knock Tiff off balance a bit in the process.

I suppose we are going to have to put up with another week of this . Things don’t look good for a Christmas engagement announcement for Toni and Brad. Oh well.

Anyway, what Quill is experiencing is not sexual harrassment, It’s called stalking, and Tiffany is just the female version of Dirk. If Mr. Evans succeeds in getting the point across that stalking is not just some creepy guy who won’t take no for answer, but rather something that is also done by apparently, if superficially, attractive women as well, he will have done a service.

I predict that Quill will loosen Tiffany’s vice grip on his arm, spin around and kiss Luann right smack on the lips. Both Luann and Tiffany will be left with their head spinning and of, course, Tiffany will feign a fainting spell and attract even more attention to herself.

People like Tiffany need to be shown that their conduct will not be tolerated.; unfortunately, our society is just polite enough to let them walk all over others.

There needs to be a beauty competition between Tiffany and Toni Daytona, so Tiffany can feel herself getting knocked off her own pedestal. lol! Also, I used to think Tiffany’s hairstyle was ridiculous and needed changing. But then I thought, ‘Why should I encourage any outward physical-improvement in a character I loathe?’ So, go ahead, Tiffany. Keep sporting a hairstyle that resembles a PAC-MAN ghost. LOL!

Yvonne De Carlo did uncredited parts in movies for years before they finally put her name in the credits. Tiffany is looking at this movie as a launch pad straight to stardom. I wonder if she realizes just how hard it really is? And just how quickly the dream can end. They may fdo all the filming and end up cutting her part.

I really don’t know how Tiff would react if Quill put the moves on her. The last time I remember a guy trying was that guy from Spain. She chastened him and touched up her makeup. She was just looking for an escort. After all – what is Barbie without Ken?

Both Quill and Luann are suffering from Kiss-Interuptus. I’m surprised Tiff had the gall to commit such an act. At least once they get to LA, he can lose her. And if he is smart, he’ll be sure that they don’t have the same flight back.

Give Quill a chance – they’re all 16. Guys are still boys at 16 and the nice ones don’t know how to deal with obnoxious twits like Tif. She’ll help him learn. Tardarian9 is correct – the next move is Luann’s. Otherwise this round goes to Tiffany.

Greg did a great shot of a kiss about to happen (before Tiff whisked him off). Does she think she’ll be able to follow him around while in LA (or drag him to the places she’s going?) I think NOT. Hopefully we’ll see Tiffany ranting on about what she will do (as she did in the car) and Quill will have his earplugs and be texting Luann – but nothing until Monday, and we may be back to TJ and Ann E.

That’s actually a good question. And at what point would a strip become so hidebound representing that quota that its creator couldn’t effectively deliver it? You have to write what you know, what comes naturally to you – and if you don’t have a lot of affinity with people outside of your own culture or ethnicity, it’ll be clear. If you force it and add characters that you don’t relate to, or are outside of your experience just because they’re supposed to be represented, then it’ll be painfully obvious you’re faking it or just shoehorning characters in for the sake of representation.

Delta’s become a knee-jerk overcommitted community activist with no personality – she’s a political poster now , not a character any more.

With due respect to Mojitobaby’s analysis – in some contexts Quill could be seen as supremely wimpy – My experience of him is different. I see him as more of a Kwai-Chang Cain character, totally in control of himself and aware of what’s going on around him, in this case Tiffany’s supreme shallowness, and yet not feeling the need to waste unnecessary energy on a situation that is unavoidable. I think if push came to shove, Quill could figuratively twist Tiffany out of his life in an instant.

It’s so funny you should mention Franklin because I recall an interview where Greg compared Delta to Schulz’s token character. I don’t remember whether it was Greg’s take that Schulz had trouble doing anything with him when he ‘fessed up that he had the same problems with Delta, or whether that was actually Schulz’s admission as well. .But Franklin’s presence certainly did have an ulterior societal meaning. Schulz not only introduced him in 1968 and showed him in school with white kids, Franklin’s dad was also in Vietnam. That’s about as racially political or contemporary event-y as the strip ever got, btw. And some editors refused to run the strip at that time because it showed that integrated school setting.

But it ended there since Franklin had no outstanding characteristics whatsoever other than his skin color. And in a comic world where everyone was odd and had a quirk or something offbeat that defined them, Franklin was a flatlining nonentity. Even Schroeder, who, prior to his apprearance, was hands-down the most boring character in the strip, had Beethoven as a novelty.

Luann doesn’t need to kiss him good-bye. It wouldn’t matter anyway to Tiffany, who would still try to muscle in on Quill. It would just smack (sorry) of desperation on Luann’s part.:This is going to be a good test of their relationship. Everyone, but the clueless Tiffany, is going to learn something, however it turns out. You can see by the look in Luann’s eyes in the last panel, that her learning has already begun.

Damn, if only you hadn’t put in that qualifier of “dysfunctional” then Dirk would be in the running – which would be supremely ironic given what the strip is supposed to be. As it is, I think the Fire Dept captain, whose name I forget, and Elwood are the only characters sporting a Y chromosome who haven’t been run over and been made roadkill by some member of the female population. And since Elwood is fairly creepy and just tries to buy whatever and whoever he wants, he’s no more an admirable character than Dirk is..Frank, for all that he’s an excessive nebbish, did tell Nancy she was wrong to treat Toni the way she dd a few Thanksgivings ago, and lived, so perhaps there’s hope, but Brad’s performance during the WW employment arc was outright disgusting IMO..It’s true, if you have anything negative to say, you’ll often be labelled a troll by people who think unless you’re lauding Greg you’re being horribly disrespectful tp both him and everyone else here. Bill got smacked with that upstream just today, but I can’t tell you how much I disagree with that. Some people feel very protective of Greg or the strip, but sticking your fingers in youre ears and going “lalalalala we won’t hear anything bad said about it!” is pretty childish..Trolls deliberately find hot-button issues and push them, and their views aren’t genuine – they’re manufactured to provoke maximum agitation and controversy, and they don’t give a damn about the strip per se, they just want to see how much trouble they can provoke. There’s lots that’s fun and good about the strip, and lots that isn’t, and having a POV that might not be 100% in line with the mainstream doesn’t mean that you – or your comment i- s somehow “unworthy”. BS to that.

Thanks to the comic strip’s time capsule world, Tiffany will always be the ditzy, self centered 16 year old. She’ll live her glamor and wanna be starlet existence, suffering minor set backs, but never the disaster of total failure. Like Beetle Bailey, in the army for 61 years, same Camp Swampy, and still doesn’t have any stripes. Maybe Tiffany is the role model for all those little drama queens with dreams of the spotlight.

You know I think this can be looked at as a bit of a satisfying blow to Luann’s ego. Look at her, she acts like she has dibs on Quill when she won’t even tell him she likes him and he’s not her boyfriend. Maybe if he was HE’d speak up rather than be flirted with. I like to think he’s doing this to get Luann to think more about saying how she feels rather than doing that aggravating “teehee we’re not dating. <3” thing she thinks is cute.
