Joe: So are you finished protesting, Danae? Danae: Yes... Joe: And what did we learn from it? Danae: To pick our battles and avoid doofs with pepper spray. Joe: Giggle... OK... good enough. Cop: Dang... Too late. Meanwhile...
I dunno about that cop… I’m sure he’ll brighten his day by finding a suspicious looking squirrel (or maybe some of Lucy’s horsemuffins) in all those leaves. With luck, though, the squirrel will be wearing goggles (and a flying helmet).
Guess Wiley missed the YouTube video that showed all of the events leading up to the pepper spray incident at U.C. Davis. It wasn’t quite as one-sided as the media portrayed it.
Just because you aren’t paying attention, doesn’t mean that others aren’t. You and your friends are not everybody, even though you think you are. There are many, many people very focused on this important protest, especially the bankers, Wall Street hedge funders and oil tycoons that brought down the economy for their own enrichment. This is only the beginning, and only a fool would ignore it.
Just for the record, look for the videos of what really happened that day. The police actually showed pretty good restraint the whole time. The idiots trapped the police and made demands. They surrounded the cops. The cops weren’t there to stop the protest. They were removing the tents.
I also see a sea change coming in America. I used to vote Republican. When I was young, I voted Democrat. Now, I see a need, a very strong need, for real and fundamental change in America. Forget the left and the right. What we need is a set of politicians, from the White House to the Dog House, that want to and feel the need to, help us, the American People. Nothing else will set our country on the right track.
We need to help our aging citizens. Not everyone had the forsight to put away savings. Some were just unable to due to whatever circumstances.
We need a TRUE overhaul of our healthcare system. Certainly not this mishmash of a program the current administration forced upon us.
We must help the poor. However, they must be guided into a better life. The entitlements now out there are not giving the poor any progress, merely perpetuating the problems.
We need leaders to step out of ther masses. True leaders, that feel the need to serve thei county and not their own selfish desires. Leaders with great personal integrity, who will not divide us but unite us.
I have yet to decide who I will vote for in 2012. I certainly do not see a rubber stamp for President Obama. Yet, the others have yet to show me a real alternative.
In closing, I would like to ask that we all forget our differences and come together as a nation. That was how our forefathers did it. That was how the later peoples who entered the nation from immigration or freedom from slavery did it. They had a dream and so do I. Please join me in this. Have a little of my dream of a country united.
There are a lot of people that do their best to take of themselves and their families(grandchildren and the like), that are the middle class, work hard and are always behind. They ARE doing the right thing, supporting their families to the best of their ability. Just add in a disability, a grandchild to help and then 9/11 ruins the family business.
No new cars in 14 years, a refi to keep the business and now it looks like everything is crashing down.
When were we to put money away? Thank your government for your government job or government contractor job, no one else is keeping their heads above water unless they are dragging down dozens more.
I am Canadian, and a proud one. But I see through my now-aged eyes the various deficiencies being experienced in both of our Countries. And it is a shame. The comments herein do cause me to pause, and to think heavily about where this is all taking us. The USA is a proud and confident neighbour and republic, and it does break my heart to hear and to see what is happening. Back in January 2009 I was in New York hotel for a two-week assignment, and saw and read a poster in the elevator, calling upon all to help your President make affirmative actions, to reach out and to help one another. I thought, then as I do now, that this was a tremendous and wonderful call to action. We are all in the same boat, rowing as hard as we can, regardless of which Country we live. Pulling and rowing all together and all in the same direction is the only way to survive. Please, no pettiness will help, no resentment will help… I used to think that the Occupiers, wherever they were, were a bunch of nut-cases, but I’m begining to see maybe what they were trying to show us. Maybe I am just too comfortable to really see…Thanks for letting me vent.Take Care.

Looks like Officer Pepe Spray has finished up over at La Cucaracha.
And remember “Pepper Spray” is formulated to be a deterrent not a condiment.

Wonderful strip and ending for this sequence, Wily. The increasingly militaristic cop mentality is destroying America.
