who wants to help me slap Gunther until he regains (or gains) common sense, it is sad when we have to say Knute is making more sense……………. and actually he has been nervous in the past when it gets “serious” (sometimes in actuality, sometimes just in his mind) with Luann, Tiff and Bern

Get thee to a monastery, young Gunther! You’re going to be celibate forever, anyway, with that attitude, so you might as well channel it to some good.

I got a feeling that Gunther is going to be like this for the rest of his life. He won’t get married nor even have a girlfriend. He such an idiot. I’d kick his ass just for the hell of it.

No great loss for Gunth. Although Rosa is very cute and smart, I also find her a bit annoying & sometimes overbearing. However, after TJ & Eiffel, this storyline is a bit of a snorer. Interesting how Gunth is suddenly the voice of reason. I’d like to see development of the relationship between him & Crystal.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Okay, AGAIN let me HELP, Gunther.

Why don’t you two DO something that YOU like to do, Gunther?

Like costume making,eh? Get Rosa to ‘model’ some of those “Fiddler on the Roof” costumes, you’re making for the school play. And be sure to Lovingly take Rosa’s measurements for the dress like you did with Luann. Now if THAT activity doesn’t SPARK some INTEREST, then there Just AIN’T no Chemistry between THESE two.

That IS normal teenage thinking. Most teens are scared witless when it comes to romance. It’s new territory for most, & they don’t know how to go about it. Plus, all the hormones cloud their thinking. Yes, they think with their “gonies” but there’s always a lot more uncertainty involved – at least for most.

Not only do Luann and Gunther both have inferiority complexes. They have both decided to do some kind of “non-dating” thing in order to avoid being hurt. Both Quill and Rosa are better off with each other. At least they are willing to risk being hurt for the glorious feeling of romance.

Luann and Gunther both deserve each other. They should not be allowed to tease others and then pull back the second things start to look really good. They behave like no teens I have ever known. As long as they both have no hormonal drives, they should explore the deepest depths of their inferiority together.

If only I had known why so many girls thought my trumpet playing would make me fun in bed. Honest! I didn’t figure it out until a few years later, either. That’s what being raised in an anti-sex cult can do for you here amidst sexual plenty in America.

ha, and this is why luann is off to greener pastures. It’s demeaning waiting on someone to decide if they’ll be part of a relationship or not.

Thanks for your earlier post that kicked off all the “corrections”. I grinned when I saw the post and I grinned more broadly when I saw the “corrections”. We need humor and especially so when the subject contains humorless situations like this week’s subject. Keep at it and we might even lure Susansunshine back. She’s a punster of the first magnitude but has apparently vacated this strip in favor of being more broadly accepted in other strip forums..Meanwhile, let me add my pathetic bit. It’s knot funny when Gunther is seen as a knothead – when he’s all tied up in knots trying to solve the puzzle of love with confidence – KNOT?

As I remember high school, Gunther has it all— a cute girl, a good friend who shares his interests, arm candy. Not everyone has/had explosive hormones. Though apparently they are appearing— hence his vague desire to kick it up a notch. Go slowly, Gunth, don’t let society pressure you into doing something you’re not ready for.

There is no reason for uncertainty or angst here. As a guy at this age, having already successfully dated a girl, the hard part was over. Now all I had to hope for was would I get any. I remember there being a generally accepted three date minimum.Luann and Gunther seem to be dragging their feet so that the other person will dump them first. Then they can justify their choice to minimize the pain by not having gotten involved.

without belaboring (sic) the point every time outThe point is that Evans, while his artwork is evolving, is losing it as a storyteller. No competent storyteller keeps pressing reset on his characters if he wants them to “evolve” and never, ever, resorts to deux es machinas to resolve conundrums. Evans has to make a hard choice: either keep recycling plots like Archie, or take the Doonesbury route and have the characters grow up and have lives of their own. He can’t take it half-way.
