Aren’t they all washing baths? I’ve never put my kids in the tub to play. That’s what pools are for. She shouldn’t have to spell everything out to him – he’s not a toddler.
I have a 9 year old grandson that thinks that if he just stands under the shower and gets wet, that is good enough. His mom has to stand in the bathroom and make sure he uses soap and a washcloth. Just being a little boy.
Bath water doesn’t stay warm for long. You’d think he’d want out by now. As kids in the bath, we weren’t allowed to turn on the faucets. Only mom did that part.
I used to revel in the dirtiness! Never liked to shower. The dirtier, smellier, grosser I was, the better! LOLNOW … I prefer to stay clean, and sweat free … I’m a Computer Geek, and my computers should remain clean too.
I see no problem. He’s been occupied for an hour and still has more bathtime to do. Unless he’s coming up on being late for bedtime, it’s a win/win for everyone.

I’m disappointed that we didn’t see Elizabeth get a lecture on taking fish out of their environment in today’s strip.

Be more specific, Mom. Explain to him that baths are for washing and getting clean, then he can play.

Put a little soap in the water. He will get clean just by stirring everything up. Has fun, gets clean. Rinse cycle can work the same way.

@lightenup clearly you live where it’s warm. Baths are perfectly acceptable play areas yearround – especially when it’s winter.

And wash behind your ears and between your toes and scrub that grime off of you! That’s what Elly should be saying.
