Postmaster: Sorry, Mel. Nothin' today. Melissa: Sigh... guess I better take the initiative... Hi, Justin. It's me. Voice: Mel! What's going on? Melissa: Just checking in. Hadn't heard from anyone in a while... Voice: Oh, hey, my bad, sis - I've just been jammed... the kids all got the flu, and I had to stay home from work... plus both Chris and Allie are playing hockey, so we've been spending every weekend on the road. Melissa: Sounds crazy. Voice: yeah, it has been. So where you calling from? Melissa: Afghanistan. Voice: Oh, right, right... wait, we're still there?

Afghanistan? I thought we won there in 2002.

RSR is onto something, but he grabs the wrong end of the stick. If Mel and the other 150,000 men and women in uniform were brought back home, they wouldn’t find jobs. The Army is our biggest employer; eliminate these government jobs—-for that’s what they are—-and the entire private sector would collapse, especially under a President Romney.

Obama appears to be the Simpsons of politics.

It is time to institute a “War Tax.” This tax would go toward paying down the debt created by ten years of war.

Especially if you cut taxes every time you start a new one.

My husband used to lecture us on the evils of the ever-expanding economy we depended upon, saying it would never be able to keep going, and what would happen afterward: we’ll be wandering in the desert for a few more years, and frankly I’d rather stay on the horse that we are on in the middle of this stream than switch right now. He isn’t perfect, but I do believe that Obama has the best interests of the country at heart and is trying to overcome some strange times in politics to get us there. I will like to see what he can do in the next term, when he has the ‘political mandate of the people’ as Geo WB was fond of saying. Make sure to vote people, because change for change’s sake is not what we need right now; what we need is accountability.

If all the comments are anti-war, why do we still have war? Or, why the U.S. wars? Who are we going to vote for, those who promote war (Repub) or those who continue the wars (Demo)?

People like you are never satisfied. This President’s life has been more thoroughly examined than any person in history and still claims are made about him not having been vetted. Why don’t you be honest about your intentions. Now what is different about this President from his predecessors that makes you so uncomfortable?

Amen, Babka. Second that emotion.

Yeah, the best interests of the country – that is why he was telling Putin to come back after the 2012 elections since he would be freer to do what he liked.
Folks, if you think he was bad the last 4 years, you ain’t seen nothing yet!

Where in the world do you get your information. Such allegations are ludicrous!

Something’s wrong here. After all the deployments Mel had to Iraq, she’s due at least a year stateside for rest and retraining before having to go back into a war zone.

Frankly, as someone with no love for the Empire, and even though I am an Asian and my sympathies are entirely with the people of Afghanistan, I hope the Empire doesn’t “bug out” of that country. The longer it stays there, the faster it bankrupts itself, and the better in the long term for the world. A world without the Empire wouldn’t be perfect, but it would be a better world than it is now.

I guess I need to see the Constitution you are working from. The one I know has no requirement that both parents of a presidential candidate be American citizens. Actually, it makes not mention of parentage at all. It only says the candidate must be native born, meaning born within the borders of the United States. President Obama meets that requirement. Please stop embarassing yourself with such ignorant statements. Plus you are letting a whole lot of your bias show.

Too bad we can’t bring back Pres. Clinton. At least we had a thriving economy even if everything wasn’t perfect. I know there are a lot of Clinton haters, but no one died when Clinton lied. I like Pres. Obama a lot too but I am not sure they are mostly racist, though many certainly are racist. Clinton was white but had his share of haters.

The problem is, war is good for the economy. You have to ask “what is the economy good for?” (besides the 1%)

So much for the North Korean perspective, Going from Il to Ung, they’re a little cranky after the rocket. Expert commentators warned that they may retaliate for losing face, I just didn’t know they were so weak that they would strike through GoComics.

No, nothing’s wrong here. It’s just the standard load of loonies at the Doonies. We have everything here from “FDR was the last president to ever unite this country” (after 9/11 the whole country united against the agressors; same thing as in WW2 with FDR) to “the entire private sector would collapse … under a President Romney” (Romney has made a career of saving corporations from ruin) to “the “Government” that knows “EVERYTHING about ALL OF OUR PERSONAL LIVES”, is the same “Government” that can’t uncover the “truth” about Obama being born in Honolulu?? Folks, you CAN’T have it both ways!” (A repressive dictatorship DOES gather info on the citizens, does NOT issue info on the leadership; it’s not a contradiction, it’s way repressive governments always work.)

You need to start taking your meds again, before you do something truly foolish in real life, beyond just writing your loony ramblings on comics pages. Obama has been subjected to far greater scrutiny than any before him – and still we have crackpots who say he’s somehow managed to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes. It comes down to your having chosen to live life in your own little world, and only listen to people who share the same warped views and tinfoil hat conspiracy theories.

you think? It has nothing to do with the Global Financial Crisis that was motivated by greed or the poor prior managament that made the sector too fat to be able to efficiently manage?

This one makes me sad. I don’t care about the politics, just the reality that those at home forget so soon how lonely it must be for the peace keepers.

“We do know his Dad was never a US Citizen. So that alone disqualifies him from being President.” No it doesn’t. Only one parent must be a citizen.
