Transcript:
Roland: But the war's been worth it, don't you think, Sergeant? Melissa: Well, that's hard to say, sir. Roland: Damn... same lame response from everyone! Maybe I'm just not asking the right question... if we lose, it's Obama's fault, right? Melissa: Again. Hard to say, sir.

âNation Buildingâ in a place thatâs never been a nation but a loose collection of warring tribes was S T U P I D.

At least he admitted the possibility of losingâŠin which he is more realistic than anyone in the War Party ruling the Evil Empire.

But the media doesnât manipulate the news, oh no.

How is Roland still on this airplane and not taking his one free flying lesson?
TheSoundDefense almost 13 years ago
Roland starts with the answers, then finds the right questions.

We are a nosy camel.

The only way you could win that would be to depopulate the country and nobody has the will to be a monster.

If Mel gives Roland lame answers, it may be because sheâs incapable of any others. (Iâm not as impressed with the character Melissa Wheeler as some of the posters on this board appears to be.)

Look at news coverage from other countries sometime, and you will see how narrow and parochial ours is.

Mel just wonât go along with the Fox script.

Iâm thinking Faulkland Islands. Gotta be some others.

@Susan Newman the only âmuttâ I see is this election is not Romney and his history is a true rags-to-riches that follows the classic fairytale.
And besides that we already have a ten year extension in Afghanistan.
roctor almost 13 years ago
Hedley canât get over the fact that its the same lame answer. He must stick to script without deviation. I guess the point is Roland too is in a quagmire.
Spamgaard almost 13 years ago
Much better, Roland! Ailes would be proud.
cdward almost 13 years ago
I second what rvernon said. Righties created this whole âchosen oneâ myth then have used it since day one to bash the President. Either show some class or go away.

What? You mean Garry Trudeau doesnât like Baby Jesus?

Why doesnât Roland just tap into her cell phone? New Corps has the technologyâŠ

The same lame response is given because the servicemen and women are ordered to give that lame response! Both my kids were in the Air Force (one still is) both served in this idiocy and both told my wife and I the same thing⊠if they gave their true opinion of the war(s) they could be court martialled. They are instructed carefully on what they are permitted to say to the media and civilians.

Yâneed to sit in on a congressional hearing, Roland. That way you can learn from the professional ex-lawyers how to ask questions that will usually elicit the only answer theyâre interested in.

If you have a chance see The Art of War by Sun Tzu on TV. Forget what channel. It tells why we lost in Viet Nam and you can see the same thing happening in the Middle East.

Same lame Fox douche bag

Youâre probably right.

What a load of bull THAT is! Typical liberal thinking.

Youâre right, there.

Afghanistan was âlostâ the instant they went beyond taking out camps in the north, and decided to take out the government, as repugnant as it might have been.
As to military speaking out; Cheney/Rumsfeld changed the UCMJ significantly to make ANY contradiction of politically elected or appointed folks a courts martial offense. What used to apply to criticizing the Commander in Chief was changed to apply to any hack, down to essentially the level of a political appointee sanitation worker.
joe vignone almost 13 years ago
The point is not to win, but to keep the dollars flowing to the military/industrial complex. Itâs also a good excuse to lock up the opposition for protesting, to cut services to the middle class and the poor, and to keep us divided. There is only one party in Washington and it is the party of MONEY!
Bucinka almost 13 years ago
Good boy, Roland. Donât bite the hand that feeds you.

Nation building was Shrubâs invention when the lies he used became too obvious to ignore.

Ask Cheny for the real reason$ for going to ââwarâ.
bm_jsimmons almost 13 years ago
Actually Big_Tex⊠that âno-tellâ policy crosses all political lines, my daughter was in the Air Force during the âShrubber" uh Bush administration, and she was the first one to tell me about the donât say anything critcal of the war policy, although Iâm sure youâre right and the same holds true under Obama. Just being âFair and Balanced" here, thatâs allâŠ

Theyâve GOT to leave Half-A$$-gone-istanâŠtheyâre already overdue in Colombia, and Mexicoâs up in air, for sure,âŠ
Aslan Balaur almost 13 years ago
Funny how we didnât seem to learn that in Vietnam. But then, maybe if Bush had gone over there instead of his daddy arranging for him to do his guard service campaigning for Nixon, he might have gotten an education into just how terrible war really is.
Aslan Balaur almost 13 years ago
And again, where is a âlikeâ button when you need it? It seems that the only business the Republicans think can provide energy and jobs is coal and oil. Why not back something that will benefit us in a century, like CLEAN energy now, and education for improvements later?
basshwy almost 13 years ago
Ironic that they fight for freedom and in particular freedom of speech and yet they have none themselves, donât youthink?
basshwy almost 13 years ago
Further; if previous US govts had not âinterferedâ in other countriesâ affairs, a lot of what-ifs may not have happened. I suspect that beyond WWII, if all countries had kept to themselves, rather than behave like a bunch of interfering old biddyâs, the world may just have been a bit better off, but whoâs to know? But you can go back a long way, probably even before British Imperialism.
basshwy almost 13 years ago
Mitt Romney doing it the hard way? I donât think soâŠhttp://apnews.excite.com/article/20120425/D9UC86BG1.html
