From the looks of the bullet, it appears that Blackjack is/was using a .22 caliber pistol with hollow point cartridges.

I knew it, great ending!

Didn’t Hoover have it in for Ness, jealous of his success, I believe.

Aha! The outcome, up to this point, is much as I suggested yesterday I thought it would be. Now, what Blackjack’s gang will do is yet to be seen….

Yes, this predicament was predicted and I still love it. Blackjack is about to meet some NEW pals, in prison, hee hee. Now, let’s get back to Sam’s little predicament…

So, Blackjack’s crew is just going to quietly also? Really? The Federal slammer for armed bank robbery?

Ok. Blackjack is crazy. But You gotta love him! I’m kinda hoping that since he’s met his big goal in life that he’ll reform in prison and actually work his way to doing Good. Admittedly, he’ll probably be the president and only member of the DT Fan Club in prison. I hope he doesn’t have to do more time for fighting other inmates who bad-mouth DT!

What a great artist Joe Staton is! Look at Tracy’s expression in that last panel. You can actually feel what Tracy is thinking, or, at least, how he must feel about all this.

I own a half-century old Supermatic Trophy (family heirloom). Wonderful pistol. :D

Thank you Sydney, PST, and Jim for your reply to my question on DT reprints. I’ve decided to keep everything I have. Yes, this new team on DT has been terrific and continues DT that Gould would have been proud.

Here’s a long shot guess…Blackjack turns out to be Gordon Tracy, Dick’s brother.

Tarry, you’re dead on it! That’s a Colt .22LR Woodsman – and a very old one. I have one myself Circa the 1930’s. Worth close to $1000 at the gun shows. As far as Sam’s predicament, they ought to put that on about 1 pm daily to coincide with the network soaps! All we need now is a doctor and an expectant nurse.

There was an episode of the Brave and the Bold where Two Face and his gang had Batman dead to rights. Before shooting him Two Face flips the coin and it came up on the un marked side. Batman gets to go free.. Two Faces gang had other ideas and Batman and Two Face had to team up to take them down.I wonder if fighting along side Tracy is another of Black Jacks’s dreams.Cant get over how good this strip has become. Has it gotten any notice outside of the fan base?

Say what you will about Blackjack, but he deserves to be among Flattop, Pruneface, the Brow and Mumbles as one of the most memorable members of Dick Tracy’s Rogues Gallery. He even has a distinctive visage.

Would Blackjack be Tracy’s version of Moriarty ?.If memory serves, I don’t believe Elliot Ness ever fired a gun. The way he was portrayed in movies and TV ie. The Untouchables.

A great story and characters I’d love to see again (Blackjack, Bogart, and Fritz Ann, too! – she’s a lot more fun than JimTrailer). I’m almost sorry to see the story end.

Didn’t see that coming (wink, nod)!According to Daniel Okrent’s “Prohibition,” Eliot Ness was probably the most over-rated cop that ever lived.

This has been a great chase. Is it really over? At least there are elements (like the small-m mole) that promise more action.
