Producer: Intelligent, well-mannered, no tattoos, addictions or arrests... good Lord, where does a freak like this come from? Reality-show casting process
If everyone refused to watch these āunrealityā shows, there would not be any. Donāt blame the idiots on them just shoot those who watch them. That way we rid the world of far more idiots.
āāBigotā: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance. ā See Websterās.
First victim today; clearly bigoted goes beyond being devoted to own opinions and is intolerant of others beliefs,, It is NOT a seriously misused word, Go figure,
I was going to say, he/she sounds Mormon, so they could but it in the big box on the rightā¦ but then again, that description could be of me, and Iām not. That could show a tiny bias, but I swear Iām not a bigot.
The irony is, that this is closer to the truth about casting for these shows, than youād believe. Having personally had the dubious distinction of being a casting director on occasion, I can attest to this.
Actually, no, I donāt think bigotry applies to everyone. I live in a University town where there seems to be extraordinary tolerance due to having students from all over the world. As for hypocrisyā¦I donāt like to lie, but when an aggressive salesman shows up at dinnertime asking for the man of the house, I can look him dead in the eye and say, āHeās not here.ā Guess that makes me a hypocrite.
Itās the fanatics who get all the press. Why? Because they are fanatics, of course. Their bad press is often applied to thoughtful spiritual people, until all religious people are considered fanatics simply because they are religious. This truly is a non sequitur.
zoldknight: So lefties are all on drugs? Iām glad you are not a bigot. Is that why the Reich-wing doctors (with Faux News on in their waiting room TV) find it so hard to believe I am 79 and take no medication?
Documentaries are āreality showsā. The ācompetition reality showā came about to ālegitimizeā the human dog fight, where ethics and morality were shunned, and those with no values could feel superior and cheer on the unethical, ignorant, contestants: theyāre like current āconservative politicsā.
I have a hard time believing everyone on reality tv shows are who they really claim to be ā my guess is that they act it up to get on tv. Which is too bad really, because I think there are people who DO believe that reality tv shows real people and the threshold for acceptable social behavior sinks lower as a result. (ex. if Paris Hilton/Snooki/whoever can walk around dressed like a call girl, drink like a fish, swear like a sailor, and treat people horribly so can I! Itās normal, right?) Barf.
I just looked it up and was inclined to agreeā¦ Then I found this definition: bigot (b g t) n. One who is strongly partial to oneās own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ. [French, from Old French.]I think Iāve met a number of themā¦ Doesnāt it borderline on racism?
and those are the tea party types he is looking for; no wonder he questions the qualifications of someone he calls a āfreakāā-that is what tv has to offer todayā¦.am glad I donāt have oneā¦..
androgenoide: Fifty years ago, I was out of college and voting. I never found a liberal southern Republican ā and precious few liberal Democrats. There were a few Socialists, Communists were mostly FBI āvolunteersā getting paid for āinfiltratingā, Populists were all dead, and Greens hadnāt yet been invented by a US Army brat and NATO general in Germany, much less gone worldwide. Civil rights was a major issue ā just like today. Louise Raggio was still fighting for women to get the right to sit on juries and sign their own contracts in Texas, much less fight to keep them from being rolled back by Republicans. Republicans voted in the Democratic primaries, then selected their candidates by convention, thus assuring the election would be between two Republicans. For me, this is not history, but biography.
As someone who fits the comicās description perfectly, but is no leftist (I prefer to be independent not bipartisan), Iād like to say, please, donāt make such generalizations. Also, plenty of right-winged people fit that description too, and liberals are more likely to have tattoos.
Not exactly. A bigot is defined as an individual who is completely intolerant of any beliefs/opinions/etc. that do not match their own. Which would mean that they are committed to their own beliefs yes, but one could be committed to their own beliefs and yet have tolerance for othersā.

Rejected from the Jerry Springer show, where else can we go?

Holden Caulfield had only three categories: Phonies, morons and perverts. Is having more variety a good thing?
TheFinalSolution almost 13 years ago
Like thatās a bad thing? Now, if it were labeled āMisguided religious fanaticsā you might have a point.
