Okay, I’m unclear on this. How does investigating a bombing make the cops look like the bad guys? Because questioning an obvious suspect with a criminal history doesn’t strike me as a huge mistake.
If I were Mumbles (thankfully I am not), I wouldn’t be looking so smug in panel 2: I’d be looking for the dagger Panda planted in my back. Panda is not to be trusted. He has hungry vines that he cares for more than he cares for people! And I would not be too happy to be in Kadaver’s situation, either. He could be on the list of “expendables,” too!
Mumbles doesn’t seem to be the brightest bulb in the LiteBrite box. As for Kadaver, he thinks he’s the smartest criminal on the planet, so he has a blind spot about the possibility of anyone else getting the drop on him. Panda’s playing to their weaknesses.
What I’m curious about is just what is really Panda’s agenda and what’s his weak spot.
first off.. WOO HOO!! I’m back in the top ten! lol! my highest ranking was #6 then to 7, 10, 21, 17, 18 and yesterday #12.. today i am #8.. cloer and closer to #1 lol (yes, i get obsessed over countdowns, always have lol)
as for the story, i dont think mumbles is long for this world, panda is holding him pretty close and they ARE near those muerte vines. anyone know why blaze (?) rize was eyeing them up the other day?
kadaver is the perfect foil for the bombing since tracy cant seem to find him anyway.. pretty hard to pin it on him when you cant find him, and besides.. the fingerprint only means that kadaver TOUCHED it, not that he planted it. mr kleen will have a FIELD DAY with this!
wheres doubleup at? havent seen him in a while either.

I agree with BillThompson that Wendy’s big “scoop” on SBN didn’t amount to much, if the listening public would stop and think for a minute. So, the police are looking at two suspects for the same crime – so what? Maybe Mumbles knows something about the bombing, even if Kadaver’s fingerprint is also involved. It is certainly police procedure to question close associates of victims, which Mumbles surely is. Wendy was trying to make all this seem much more significant than it actually is, but her actions did tip off the MCU that they have a leak, so she actually helped Tracy and Company.
Panda’s right about Abner – taking one for the team!I’m sure it hurt his professional pride to do it; after all, he’d gone unsuspected all those years.Yeah, he’s the last of the great opera-caped pseudo-zombie hitmen! As Mumbles might say, “Wadduhguy!”
But what’s Panda’s (or rather Mr Crime’s) plan? Draw Tracy onto them to trap him? Mr Bribery had Matty Square co-operate on this, with ghastly results for Matty Square – and eventually for ALL Bribery’s gang.
Well Joe Staton relaxes his “illustraror’s” pen today in mid-panel, with a touch oid the cartoonist’s like flair on the faces of Mumbles and Panda. That’s good, closer to the Gould (and even, Locher) STYLE, sitting better with the original " face-art culture " !In the meantime, he continues to establish himself as the best creator in the use of black and white - CONTRAST, since Chet Gould hung up his Pen Guns !
…so if the “new” Mr. Crime turns out to be another face from before, he’d almost have to have been a bigger and more seen name from the past, wouldn’t he? One who could somehow incredulously have survived…..was totally into crime for materialistic gain (unlike, say, Prune Face, a spy) and had a “collecting” mentality – thus all these bad guys from Tracy’s past now seen currently – so my vote goes to…..Mr. Bribery!
After reading today’s comments, so far, I went back & reread Mr. Bribery’s “last” story. And while Mr. & Mrs. Chin Chillar (what a great couple!) did indeed drop Bribery through the roof of the prison carpenter shop, no one actually says that he is dead. You would assume so, but quoting the 2 prison guards, upon discovering him, “It’s the first time anybody ever came to work in the carpenter shop this early.” “And he didn’t use the door?” “Who is he?” “Ugh! That’s a good question.” I only bring this up because Bribery was a great character who Chester Gould must have liked because his story seemed to last a long time. The new Mr. Crime? Who knows?

Sometimes Mumbles looks like a demented version of an Archie character. Open shirted Panda looks like the guy at the club who sells you coke.

So far EVERYTHING seems to be a set up.I just hope Little Face isn’t part of this elaborate set up.The MCU needs something to go their way.

Why Chester Gould namd that slick, sociopathic henchman “Panda” beats me.

Bribery was dropped from high above out of the space coupe by the Chin Chillars, and I reckon he`s quite dead.
