Mumbles is a lefty, heh? As the two draw, I do wonder who, if either, will survive (or even if Kassie might take a stray). Also, I’m a little surprised that the reformed Leonard is packing, even in his gang persona. Anyway, things are heating up rapidly!
The positive— I really like the reformed take on LittleFace. The not so positive— we’ve seen this scenario before w/ PuttyPuss & Cueball, even w/ The Fifth & FlyFlace to an extent. Rogue facing off against rogue in shoot-out. I realize this is all happening, heat-of-the-moment but surely there was a better way for LittleFace to handle this, especially w/ Kassie as potential collateral damage?
Also feel like the past couple days have been opportunity squandered w/ the little human moments that Mike is so good at ie. some better follow-up and/or justification w/ Teeveo’s motives (I liked his off-hand line a few weeks back about the MCS never telling him anything, leaving him out of the loop…potential grudging motivation there other than more simplistic “Mr. Crime Makes It Oh So Easy”) & Kassie taking some of the emotional spotlight…if there was going to be a face-off w/ Mumbles, isn’t she the more apt choice?
I realize this is 3-panels & most viewers are casual viewers who are more than satisfied w/ seeing weird-looking badguys shoot at each. Yup. Only so many seconds to grab the reader…but I’ve seen those same 3-panels or less unabashed w/ heavy exposition, back-history. A single choice line of character-dialogue here or a silent panel focused on character reaction there goes a long way (Son of Spyke panel in kitchen scene ’tween father & son comes immediately to mind).
I do not want this strip to be rote! Not w/ the talent involved.
Number 19 today, and mike congrats at grabbing the top slot! dunno who is the quicker on the draw between mumbles and little face but isnt mumbles a murderer and little face isnt? i cant judge cause i never read little face until he showed up here so i dont know why he was sent to prison.
Fun comic strip so far… I haven’t read Dick Tracy in years. Was introduced to Dick Tracey by Joe Staton himself at HeroesCon last weekend. Can’t wait to see more of this strip…good work creative team!
WW – your talents have been missed. Thanks for bringing back a taste of one of the best things from the old DT forum. I wonder where Sparky is hiding…his contests were always a challenge!
Will Kassie Ett get caught in the crossfire between Leonard and Mumbles? For that matter, will Mumbles really carry out his threat? The man talks a good game, but . . .

VB, “draw”, arrrrgh. Good call. Still like my “Number One With A Bullet” title? Seems like they’re startin’ to fly!

Two days, two separate cliffhangers, with many more in the coming days, I’m sure. Excellent comic strip storytelling, IMHO.

Leonard might have been able to buy a little extra time by saying, “I’m showing her to the ladies room.”

Death and destruction in the house of Crime
Will there be anyone be left alive to do their time?
Judge Colt, Judge Smith and don’t forget Judge Wesson
Are about to combine to teach the bad guys a lesson
As smoke and thunder fills the room
Who, we wonder will find their doom?
Will it be Leonard, who wants to do the right thing
And will this act, about his death bring?
The others are nefarious no-goodniks, all
Not like the man whose face is so small
As his life’s blood seeps from the wound in his chest
He is comforted by the thought, that he did his best
Tracy kneels by his side, his head hangs in sorrow
He knows that for Leonard there will be no tomorrow
“Thank you my friend, you did a great job”
“Saving Ms. Ette, helping us get this mob”
Leonard smiles, as his life comes to an end
“Tracy” he thinks “he, he, called me friend”.
Thank you Gweedo Murray and Tarry Plaguer, for your comments yesterday

Two days, two shoot-outs. Will there be a third tomorrow? Fasten your seat belts, Tracy fans. Looks like we’re in for an exciting ride this week.
