The Weed of Crime bears bitter fruit! Crime does not pay! The Shadow knows! Ah-hahahahaha!—Well, some commentators mentioned ’shadows," and that set off my thoughts….
I’m really digging this week’s strips w/ Measles. And today’s art is very Gould— chiaroscuro composition w/ shadowy figures scuttling around in the night…set against in the cold indifferent big city. + Mike’s writing forte w/ character inter-relationships.
I prefer my DT more 100 BULLETS, less Alley Oop sci-fi. But that’s just my opinion.
Good Morning Detectives!Yep, I see Bookie being outfitted for a permanent residence in Wildwood Cemetary by Monday. I’ll have to catch up by that day since I have Reserve duty this weekend. Have a great weekend and I’ll see you all back on Monday.
It seems to me that Mike and Joe and Company are trying to please both camps of DT readers. There are some who probably wouldn’t mind if the strip were renamed “Dick Tracy, starring MOON MAID” (I hope tht never comes close to happening, myself.) There are others who want it to remain an earth bound, gritty detective adventure. These intertwining story lines are giving us both.
i’m surprised that some nitpickers havent been ragging on the fact that arnie has moved from the passenger side door where he was yesterday to the drivers side today with no explanation…so before you get yer undies in a wedge…arnie (or whatever his name is) realised that bookie and NOT measles had the cash (or whatever) for the drugs so he walked over to the driver’s side “off panel” between yesterday and today to collect the “trade off”… hope that makes sense to y’all :)
@tsull2121That’s what I thought at first too but then Tarry Plaguer pointed out that the colorist messed up again by mis-coloring the headlights so we are looking at the car head on even though the red lights make it seem that we’re viewing it from the rear.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but as far as I’m concerned, I really don’t understand why anybody would take such great pleasure in logging onto the internet to poke fun at or complain about any strip. That goes for the current Tracy team or any previous incarnations. In fact, I often wonder what would have been if there were forums such as this back in Chester Gould’s day. Undoubtedly, there would have been somebody sitting back and making snide comments about some aspect of his work. Some people just enjoy stirring the pot, I guess.
The New Team never lets us down. So often a new strip out does the last, and it always leaves us wanting more. It’s great to see old favorites at the police dept. involved in the action again, as well as old villains, like Measles. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TEAM TRACY! Now…. where’s Moon Maid again?
Otto, you wouldn’t be talking about……… nah! It couldn’t be him you refer to. You mean the one whose name brings laughter and whistles at the now-defunct museum?

Measles is clearly being punished for sneaking product for himself.
Now can we PLEASE get back to Moon Maid?

I love the use of shadows. I love the mounting tensions. And I especially love Moon Maid!

It looks like the GoComics colorist has struck again. In Panel two, those are the headlights of the car. (sigh)

Good Morning everyone! Up early to read today’s strip. Great job with the shadowing. Wonder how the Plenty family is taking to Li’l Attitude’s visit.

Not sure of the “math”! Split, 1/3? Isn’t split 50/50? Sounds like Measles is getting took!!

Seems Measles is a liability. Too bad for him.
