I didn’t post an update last week because I wasn’t at home and didn’t really have it ready. I have updated my storyline map:
http://worldofdt.info/banksoplenty/
So, we have three acts and three separate, but related, stories. First, B.O. and Gertie contact the bank, who tries to foreclose on them. Blackjack gets to meet them.
Second, Sparkle Plenty, Blackjack’s favourite Plenty happens into a different branch of that bank just before Blackjack appears and she talks him out of robbing it in exchange for a private autographing session.
Finally, we have a third bank robbery (at a different bank) and a development that Blackjack certainly didn’t expect, so the robber is about to become the rescuer. Any other robber would have run away, fast, but not Blackjack.
Regarding the Hall of Fame feature, here is more about the incident with Cpl. Awagy:

I wonder how unusual it would be for an Arabian woman to propose marriage to a man. It doesn’t say if the woman was Arabian, but it seems likely to me.
Hopefully not another gunfight in a smokecloud. I’m aware of the visual restrictions placed on Team Tracy ie. singular panel cannot feature someone firing gun, someone else getting hit but we’ve been down this road several times before.
Blackjack’s in a tight spot. He and his partners in crime are amply armed. Just for show? If those guns aren’t loaded the judge will have another reason to reduce the sentences. Getting people out will earn some good will, but it seems unlikely that Blackjack will elude Tracy. Smoke gets in your eyes, of course, but we may soon see Blackjack tub-thumping in a cell. Hickman? Where there’s smoke there’s fire. The audit will go on. Will Matty Squared fix Hickman’s mess…for a price?
Thanks to Willy Carlson, Neil Wick, Gweedo (nice!), Night-Gaunt49, Vista Bill, 22ph, JPuzzleWhiz and Ray Toler for the kind words. Very much appreciated.
With only Tracy and Sam on the scene so far to represent John Law, Blackjack might have a good chance at getting away in the smoke and confusion of the fire and the soon-to-arrive Fire Department. I guess much depends upon how much care Blackjack puts into assuring the safe evacuation of all bank staff and customers; whether he meets and decides to confront Frankie-boy Hickman; and whether or not he is determined to carry through with the robbery (though that option seems rather dicey).
IMO, there can be no doubt that Hickman has added arson to embezzlement on his pending rap-sheet….
Off-topic, but George A. Romero, director of Night of the Living Dead has died at the age of 77. He was once of the Hollywood elite that I was privileged to meet.
While we’re at it, Martin Landau also died yesterday. Among other roles, he was in 76 of 171 episodes of Mission: Impossible but was listed as a special guest star for the entire first season for various reasons.
Well, there’s no mention of Tubthumping here but it’s Blackjack robbing a bank, and I can’t imagine him doing that without Tubthumping playing somewhere in the background, so here it is:

Currently under audit
Hickman comes up short
Loves himself some luxury
Dresses like a sport.
Tracy gives him a heads up
Blackjack on the loose
Hickman waves police away
Sits on his caboose.
Amount he’s short is ample
Numbers don’t make sense
Hickman ponders his next move
Shorts could use a rinse.
Sam and Tracy stake it out
Drudgery ensues
Blackjack finally makes a move
Has his own issues.
In the trash a match is tossed
Flames begin to spread
Blackjack calls the whole thing off
Tracy’s seeing red.
Hickman thinks he’s quite the brain
Smoke now fills the air
Feels he’s beat the auditors
Scoundrels best beware.

Seems Blackjack has a zero-tolerance policy for people getting hurt during his robberies, even from causes not directly related to the crime.

Arson, or carelessness?

Someone else has added to the mix. The fire won’t help anyone there except to get the people out. Won’t stop the audit at all.

Fire set, place your bet
Odds on favorite that Hickman gent
Theft was the plan, murder is banned
BJ yells an evacuation command
Tracy’s late, for his bromance date
Time will tell what’s BJ’s fate
Sam wonders why, Tracy loves this guy
And how he’ll react if his BJ should die

Blackjack’s teeth look like he and Mortimer Snerd go to the same orthodontist.
