Lacey: I'd like to thank the gay alliance for inviting me here tonight. Chatting with all of you has been most instructive. Also, I must say, it's refreshing to meet a group of constituents with such fine manners. I'm also very impressed with how nicely you all dress. The only thing I might quibble with is your hair. Some of you boys have terribly short haircuts. Hair that short looks fine on Navy cadets, but otherwise it makes you look awfully young. Joanie: Uh... Lacey... Lacey: Never mind. Minor point. Thanks again.

Since Lacey is Republican (as I remember), these are presumably fiscally conservative gay people back in 1982.

“Midshipmen”…. I married my midshipmen (cum ensign) in 1982… He’s with wife #3 now. The Navy moved us 8 times in 15 years. I had do manage 6 of those myself, with children, and the ingrate wondered why I was exhausted.

Gotta love Lacey… she could never cause offense. I am sure they all love her.
My late elderly aunt from once sold some of her to property to two wonderful women, where they built a house, and struck up a lasting friendship with them. Eventually I had to explain to her that they were a lesbian couple, and she had no idea what I was talking about. I had to explain it to her. She was old-school German so I was a little concerned about her possible reaction, but she thought it was wonderful. She was truly a force of nature, and I miss her very much.

Has anyone else noticed that Lacey sounds a lot like many of today’s women Republican politicians?

No, much more accepting and compassionate than the current crop of cutthroats.
