And, just for the record, those of us who have watched important folks in our lives fade away in hospice are not inclined to think of this as ‘performance art’.

The more I look at this ’toon,in fact, the more it disgusts me.

She should die quickly in an accident.

The way I understand it, she’s planning for the future, not the near future, but the time of her death many years later.

Another lack of character continuity as @leftwingpatriot pointed out. There was the infamous J.J/Honey meeting on Trump’s boat years ago acting as if they were meeting for the first time when they’d already been college roommates.

There sure are other things to worry about in the world today, and commenting on a strip is inconsequential for sure…but as a daily reader since 1972, I can say the investment in the characters is a palpable covenent. Wherever you want to take the characters is your business, GT, but being faithful to the history…the readers have already made the investment in that history.

Modern art is just a test of gullibility. Want proof? Put any piece of modern art next to a Caravaggio and then get back to me.

Even some modern Science and Math is a test of gullibility.

When I die, I want to go quietly, in my sleep, like my grandfather. Not screaming and clawing at the windows, like the passengers in his car.

The truly horrifying thing is that people like J.J. really exist.

In a world of selfies and constant postings of banalities on one site or another, aren’t we becoming a world of J.J.’s. Everything is on public display, everything is for public consumption. We are being consumed. Have a nice day!

I cannot believe Trudeau got Alex’s birth mixed up with J.J. Especially since he’s referenced it several times since. That may be the most glaring continuity error in the history of the strip. Yes, even surpassing Honey and J.J. temporarily seeming to forget they know each other on Trump’s liner. This is really extreme.

JJ may be nuts, but her hair still rocks!

GT needs a continuity director. JJ wasn’t born live on TV, her daughter was born live on TV. Her mother wasn’t in the strip when JJ was born.

She’s making plans. It might be 50 years before she executes them.

She and her art just get less and less; almost zero, now. On the other hand, her ego is approaching infinity more rapidly than ever.

If she is disrespecting someone it is herself, no one else. She has the right to live and die as she decides so long as it affects just her and that is what is going on here.

JJ isn’t looking too good. Notice what I assume are bags under her eyes? Also a generally weary appearance? Perhaps the “born live on cable” remark was a memory lapse intentionally shown by Trudeau. It appears Trudeau may well be preparing to wrap up the strip Doonesbury and is now setting up the demise of at least some of the characters.

It can be her last piece without being her next piece.

Having her birth be on cable would involve her mother Joanie. No way.

I think it is futile to try to calculate her exact age. It wasn’t until after Trudeau’s 18 month hiatus in the early 80s that the characters started aging in anything resembling real time, but even then it seemed to go a little bit slower than normal. I notice that Zeke has put on a bit of weight. At first I thought he was Thudpucker’s sound mixer or whatever he is.

If the art looks like trash it is because it is. J.J. has never shown any skill as an artist. Merely someone who throws things together and calls it art like Jackson Pollock
