Ironically, Republicans are now monarchists.

Once upon a time, Republicans stood for something. I sure as hell didn’t agree with them much of the time, but at least they did stand for something:

Against tariffs. Anti-Russia. President is not above the law. Support “law and order,” including the FBI, CIA and NSA. Family values. Fiscal responsibility; oppose deficits. Stand up to dictators. Party of Lincoln was for civil rights.

But along comes a charlatan and everything, EVERYTHING they ever claimed to stand for is proven to be utterly meaningless. They all bow worshipfully down and betray everything they claimed to stand for in the past.

With a few notable exceptions, such as the Lincoln Project and other TRUE CONSERVATIVES who have a principled core and actual stand up for their party’s traditional principles, the Trumpers — the FAKE conservatives — stand for nothing.

They are utterly devoid of principles or the slightest shred of human decency, with no actual values whatsoever except make rich people richer and wage genocide against the brown-skinned people who made the mistake of living on this land before they got here.

Don’t forget about the misogyny. Nasty woman, Nasty I say.

Richard Dawkins, the evolutionary biologist who literally invented the term “meme”, has often said that nobody should ever refer to “Catholic kids” or “Jewish children” or “Lutheran youth”, because kids below a certain age don’t have enuf world experience to know what they believe when it comes to religion. It’s not like they’re inspired to go out and do comparison shopping. As in most things, they just go along with what their parents tell them.

The same should be true of “We’re Republican” or “All Democrats in this family”. Let the kids grow up and make up their own minds. (Not as if this advice has ever stopped any parent from brainwashing their offspring when they’ve got the chance, but still.)

Trump Disciples now believe that sabotaging the Post Office is a good thing, especially when used to sabotage elections.

And, of course, they also believe that Putin is America’s friend.

Tax cuts for the rich. Increased taxes on the poor and the middle class, not to forget, shreeding the safety net, including Social Security.

I have several in-laws

Republicans believe in whatever it takes to get re-elected. That means tax cuts for rich donors, fewer regulations for industry, waving a cross for Evangelicals. Works every time.

I just can’t understand this principle. Why if your family is following a party you have to follow that too? Are you a robot?

This cartoon could be described as “Shooting fish in a barrel.” The Republicans problem that they are so set up for it.

Meanwhile, how or what would we describe the Democrats? I see them as at least 3 factions pushing against the establishment, plus a faction of careerists whose only object is pandering to the preceding factions, getting in office and making lots of money and social position. Hey! Did you hear that Obama has made it to 0.01% billionaire status recently?

SPEAKING of lies…….It is, of course, simply untrue that MODERN “Republicans believe in the power and dignity of the individual.” Far from only a “smattering of Republicans” believing in taking power AWAY from people, most of the ones in office want to do that. Thus, the voter suppression in all its forms (gerrymandering, of course, is down the list yet an outrage). And of course saying “Democrats believe in the power of the government, which justifies the individual and keeps the individual in thrall” is imbecility on steroids. And, about racism: not ONE person who is both intelligent and sane can possibly doubt that the lifelong racist Trump IS a lifelong racist. And no honest person refuses to say so. That doesn’t mean that every Republican voter is a racist, but it sure as hell means that the Republican party is rapidly becoming more and more racist as a whole. Principled conservatives who left the GOP in disgust at (and contempt for) Li’l Donnie aren’t enough in number to form a new party. Yet.

The fascist and racist covid spreading Republicans appear to be against democracy and governance.

Shutting down the Post Office makes hatred of Trump personal for every American.

When I was young, I asked my avidly Democratic maternal grandmother what the difference was between Democrats and Republicans. I don’t recall her exact response, but she in effect listed several traits that are being attributed to Republicans in this very forum. Her response didn’t quite satisfy me.

“But, Grandma,” I’d insist, “Republicans aren’t going to SAY that they’re racists. They aren’t going to SAY that they want rich people to have all our money.” [and so on] “There must be that they’d ADMIT to believing.”

I never doubted that my grandmother was an exceptionally intelligent person, but time has proven her to have been wiser than I ever imagined. :-|

 Why Cats Aren’t Repubicans

1. Cats are curious about what you do in your bedroom, but they don’t try to legislate away your freedom to do it.

2. Cats may take away your cushion, but they’ll give it back to you with a gentle push.

3. Cats give you attention and sympathy when you’re sick.

4. Females are treated with importance in the cat world.

5. Cats make use of solar power, often all day long.

6. Cats lick their own problems and take care of other cats too.

7. Cats don’t blame black and brown cats for their troubles.

8. Cats know how to ration their resources.

9. Fat cats are not at the top of the cat hierarchy, are not cat role models, and have more trouble surviving and thriving, not less.

10. While Republicans blindly follow authority, it is said that getting Democrats to act in unison is like herding cats.

11. Cats don’t foul their own nest.

12. Cats are popular and well-liked on the Internet and elsewhere.

As ever, Republicans are demonstrating that they can’t take nearly as much as they can dish out.

Those who object to Doonesbury’s depiction of Republicans might want to compare and contrast with Mallard Fillmore’s depiction of Democrats. Or they might not. It’s not a pleasant spectacle.

Another move to increase the animosity in this already fractured society making consensus virtually impossible.

Ironically, the Democrats are now the anarchists. Both parties stand for nothing.

In answer to the first question, 72. Answer to the second: Life begins at conception, the Second Amendment is an individual right to gun ownership, the First Amendment applies to Christianity.

Republicans believe in keeping themselves in power by any means necessary. They support Republicanism, no matter what it is at the moment. Republicanism has had, for the last fifty years, a strong foundation of White supremacy and racial, gender, & ethnic prejudice against almost anyone not White, not European-American, and not heterosexual, and against almost any women wanting power and complete equality.
