I wonder what Kirbee is thinking of this. She seems to have feelings for Wally and I think she hoped that they might become a couple. Now Wally has made it abundantly clear that he still loves Holly even though she has been mean to him and is as mad as a hatter. The artwork on today’s strip is incredible, particularly the fourth panel showing Holly’s tear stained face.
What Holly means is that she’s no longer in control of her emotions and she feels like someone else is driving the bus. The fact that she can come out and say this out loud indicates that whatever it is that IS driving the bus might be looking the other way at the moment. And, it’s scaring the hell out of her.
Six plus years hiding from events that happened when the mutagen first got out has got to be a strain. I’m guessing Holly suffered from mutating well before the war.I have a special drawing by Aaron of Holly looking up at the sky after the flashback. She’s looking at the sun. What else is she looking at?
I hope she will open up to Wally. Poor Wally, his tail tells it all about his feelings for Holly. Great that She seems to be admitting that she now realizes that she has not in her right mind. Wally will be be supportive of her efforts to think this true.It has to happen soon, we need to know what her story is.
The first point where there seemed to be a crack in her condition was after Kirbee slapped her and for a moment she moved past yammering about Clive and started crying about losing the baby. If Wally were able to comfort her at that point, the healing process could have started. Instead, the TS sent an earthquake missile.
I wonder if loss of her baby had started her own schism and she imprinted on Clive. She has a bad chance with all the horror and loss of the past few story arcs of slipping into full mental break.Use the dittos as a super therapy session.
Can this mean we will finally find out exactly how she lost her baby?I mean, we had a flashback some time ago showing how she looked before she mutated into the mouse she is today. But this could be a sign of more to come…
I’m hoping we’ll learn more. The flashback with Lynn, the monster and the helicopter suggested that we’ll learn something about whatever it is that has been eating Holly. I would have been somewhat upset with Aaron if he had just allowed Holly to walk off into the sunset with no explanation. She had been such a big part of the “Endtown” story for so long that some explanation is warrented.
Aw…But her teeth are one of her cutest features! They give her extra spunk.
Just remember, Wabbit: Nobody is born with perfect teeth. What you see in magazines is the product of years of orthodontia. As a former gap-tooth, I salute you. (But I am sorry that it hurts you. A mocking nickname is never fun.)
Another thought:.I remember Phil’s rather human torso in the fight with Wally. I also note that Kirbee appears to be sporting breasts today..One, I was starting to agree with another poster that perhaps Kirbee is but a child, herself, but right now, I’m having my doubts..Two, as far as the “mutagen” goes, I’m totally confused. Yes, mutants appear to keep their brains. But what other body parts are they retaining?
I agree with TSOJ – about someone else “driving the bus”. Previous to panel 4, Holly shouted almost everything. Here I get the feeling she is almost whispering – to me that indicates a definite shift – possibly a shift of control of whoever is “driving the bus”.
Holly’s reaction is what you might expect from someone that finds themselves in the middle of a schizophrenic or PTSD episode and has no idea of what’s happening to them. The best solution may be to just give her a chance to talk and describe what she sees going on within her.
Cheapskate0,With regards to nonreptilians having children. There were a fair number of children in Endtown, including quite a few who appear young enough to have been conceived after the great mutation. As I understand it, the mutants higher metabolism leads mutant children to mature at a younger age than their nonmutant human equivalents. Thus, mutant children who appeared to have been on the borderline of being born after the mutation were probably conceived after it.As far as Kirbee goes, I think that Wally appreciates the things she’s done for the colony and that he likes her as a person. Its just that he is in love with Holly. He had kind of made that clear when she was taking him out to meet Phil that he felt that life was not worth living without her and that he was planning to commit suicide by Phil. This is what led Kirbee to go behind the walls in search of “Molly” which led her to be with the group and be Unity’s only reptilian survivor. When Kirbee was trapped, Wally was willing to risk burning to death to chew off her tail if that was needed. He also stood up to Holly when she insisted they not allow Kirbee to travel with them, so Wally has shown that he appreciates Kirbee’s value as a human being. He may have been the first person to do so. I also suspect that Kirbee may have hoped for a little more than that. I hope this doesn’t hurt her too badly.Oh, and Kirbee has always had breasts, they just aren’t always visible under the loose fitting shirt.
Here’s a question while we wait for the update:What if Doc. Chase had secretly diagnosed Holly with a psychological disorder back when they first met, and he’s been lacing her food with psychotropic drugs without telling her all his time. And, since she ran off without warning him, he wasn’t able to prepare her for what to expect. And now, the drugs are finally wearing off…

They say that the first step towards healing is admitting you have a problem. Hopefully we will learn about the demons the milk trial stirred up.

We might have seen evidence that “something is wrong” with Holly in her reaction back when Flask drafted Wally. “No one ever comes back”.
