Isn’t it sweet the way Annie uses baby talk to convey information to John about April instead of saying “snack, nap and BM” like the child care workers for my kids used to do? However, what is her obsession with bathing April? This is about the 3rd time she has done this in the comic strip. When my kids were in child care, they did not do baths. Is Annie sending John some kind of message about how she thinks April comes to her dirty?
Sure you do. You want some to pick you up and put you down where they want, not you. Someone to make you dress in what they want you to wear, not you. Someone to spoon-feed you food you would rather spit out. And you would want to have people talk to you in “baby-talk” all day long. Sure you would want to trade places with April.
It’s all relative. I once heard about a teacher asking kids to tell which activity was work and which was play. the two activities were reading a book and working in the yard. One student said reading the book was work and yard work was play. Another student said the opposite – reading a book was play and yard work was work. When asked, the first student replied their dad was a professor while the second student was a gardener.
A lot different than the one where they were stuck in the airport for Thanksgiving due to bad weather when they tried to get flight to see Marian and Jim:
John{talking on pay phone}: “No, Mother Richards, I am not calling you from the plane. Those phones are only for emergencies. We have had a boarding problem due to weather.”
Elly{talking over John’s shoulder}: “Is that my mother? Will you let her know I plan to cook my apple brown betty for dessert, which I have been making from 1975 and shall until the year I die. I will need margarine, and not butter!”
Third panel shows Richards residence. Marian is on phone
Marian: “Is that my daughter? Welly, you telly Elly that we use butter in this house!”

Oh, John, you’d wish your stressful job on April? Do you realize what you’re saying when talking about trading?

I can’t believe this dialog from Annie to John. May I never, ever, have those words come out of my mouth.

Marian is already on the way to becoming like April. She burned the pot holder, and soon enough she will be soiling herself.

I have been reading this comic from the start. It really should be required reading for pubescent girls as a detriment to getting pregnant.

I read several comics each morning but always save FBOFW for last because it always makes me happy. What a top shelf production.
