I’d feel both relieved and ticked off. He scared her nearly to death!

Turns out that the coupon was for the things that she had just paid full price for. Happens every time. Kind of like Murphy’s law, only you’ll have to give it another name. Have fun.

Shopping coupons? What kind of police force do they have in Canada? Here locally, all the stories are about how the police are getting ready to crack down on DUIs, the most popular crime during the holidays.

My younger brother got pulled over for speeding on the freeway one Christmas eve, maybe doing 80-85 mph. The motorcycle cop walked up, handed him a small candy cane through the car widow with a small note that said “Drive safely. Merry Christmas”, said slow down and wished him well and then walked back to his motorcycle and rode off. Bro had that candy cane for years.

. Based in religion or not, that’s the thing I love best about Christmas… The good will.

The moral of this story is Ellie you should never have gone into downtown Toronto to do your Christmas shopping! They are very parking meter crazy. Do your shopping in a local suburb town. The last year I remember our town had street parking meters was in 1975 I believe. The shop keepers claim it drives customers away into the city where you get bigger selections for your couple of bucks in the meter.

Yes, you need to shop for a nice outfit when you appear before the judge to plead your case in court.

If that was a coupon, what was he writing on it? Or was that a little misdirection on Ms. Johnston’s part?

It’s nice to see the ‘Elle’ has recovered from her laryngitis(yes, I am fully aware that today’s strip has nothing to do with the daily change of thought) ! ! ! I had to say ‘something’ ! ! !

Long years ago in our smallish town, I used to park far enough away from the shopping area so that there were no meters.

It’s a gift, Elly. Thank the man and smile, he had no idea you were running like an idiot because you lost track of the time.

All that stress-too bad she just didn’t shrug and accept a possible “ticket”.

Then it would be just as easy to scan and have the parking fee collected.

The clerk at the register looks a lot like Elizabeth’s frenemy Candice, though not till she’s much older.

I once chased a Meter Maid…she left without giving me the ticket. If I remember correctly it was one of the times when the meter hadn’t even expired yet, but was going to in 5 minutes or so. That happens a lot on Wayne State’s campus.
