I was fortunate that my symptoms weren’t so bad. The hot flushes were the worst. Still get one now and then. The cessation of the monthly went rather smoothly, hit and miss for a while and then they were gone. Hallelujah!
Hey, I’m almost 50 and I haven’t gotten there yet. But I wish with all my might I would. It would be a wonderful 50th birthday gift from God if He’d bless me with menopause by then.
Well. maybe peri-menopause. Which is a period of decreasing regularity/predictability until you’ve gone a full year without a period – which is considered full menopause. My peri-menopause lasted 15 years.By the time I hit full menopause I was ready to celebrate the bother was finally over.
I think Lynn’s math is wrong. I swear when Elly was pregnant with April she told the doctor she was 39 years old (which was why she was surprised to be pregnant.) April is not even three yet.
My best friend went from being happy and content, to the next day having a major anxiety panic attack and it didn’t subside for months and months. She literally could not function. Could not get out of bed. Could not eat. She slipped into a major depression as well. Lost 30lbs and all sense of her former self. Finally doctors told her she was going through menopause and her experience was quite common. Apparently many marriages are tested and end during menopause because it is so jarring to the relationship and can last for years and years. Not looking forward to it. So not fair.
The average age for menopause is in the 50’s, not the 40’s. If anything other than just a bad mood, Elly is experiencing perimenopause. Been there, done that.
Huh… it just wasn’t that bad for me at all. No hot flashes, no sleep issues, no weight gain, no brain fog. Now that I’m 57 (5 years into menopause), I’ve got no complaints about anything.
(Clap Clap Clap!) Hello folks! If there’s anyone here who believes that the rerun is still set in 1994, as opposed to the present day, I would encourage you to check out the comic strip from 12/31/2022…. here’s the link if you need it… https://www.gocomics.com/forbetterorforworse/2023/02/22
Puberty in reverse? So Elly’s boobs will be getting smaller, her voice will be getting higher, and she will pull down her panties to see no pubic hair? :P

When I was 40, my OB-GYN said I still had at least 10 years to go. Yea.

Wow. Looking at that number 45…that’s still young. Wish I realized that 13 years ago.

I had my one and only baby at age 40. Menopause didn’t hit until age 50.

Actually I whizzed through the perimenopause (18 months start to finish) with very few issues. I realise I was very lucky.

Perhaps menopause is the equivalent of “toxic masculinity”?

Another reason to be glad that I am a male. Females have so much to contend with.

If that’s the case, then St. Michael is going to be going through puberty/menopause for his entire life..

Q; How does a husband predict the mood of his menopausal wife?
A: Assume her mood is lousy, and occasionally he’ll be wrong.
