If you don’t eat your meat you can’t have any pudding!

Ha! Have only had this conversation once with each of the kids… if you are too full to finish your dinner, then you are too full for dessert. (And no guarantees there will be leftover dessert because Daddy will inevitably finish it!)

Every freaking night.

I just announce it’s bed time, they are instantly hungry.

Yeah, my kids went through that stage. then they learned that dessert wasn’t an everyday thing. They also knew that if they didn’t eat what they were given, they wouldn’t get any dessert.

We heard “If you’re not hungry for dinner, you’re not hungry for desert” plenty of times.

“The Family Circus” did it. I figure the best strategy is to tell them after the first refusal that no dinner means no dessert.

What idiot parent serves dessert with every dinner? Dessert was for birthdays or holidays when I was a kid. Now it’s not even allowed unless it healthy food – thanks type 2 diabetes.

Use my grandfathers rule: eat everything on your plate and you might sleep on a bed tonight. Good old foor.
