Thatā€™s what Congress has been doing for at least a century.

Shakespeare: ā€œA ā€˜roseā€™ by any other name ā€¦ā€

He was promoted ā€“ he rose in the company

ā€¦ and Delegating Authority = Passing the Buck

Itā€™s called ā€œcollaborative managementā€ which means if you come up with a good idea, itā€™s really his, but if you come up with a bad idea, then itā€™s allllll yours.

Delegating Authority isnā€™t really a way to Pass the Buck.

A Boss is always ultimately responsible for the things his Subordinates do or fail to do. If he delegates wisely, he will benefit. If he does it with poor judgment, heā€™ll be on the Street in no time.

For too many managers itā€™s not really delegating authority, itā€™s delegating responsibility, with out authority.

I used to program and test the electronic funds transfer applications of a large bank. I told my boss that electronic funds transfer was just a more efficient way of passing the buck. (This has absolutely no connection to the fact that Iā€™m not working there anymore. None, right, thatā€™s the ticketā€¦)

I wanted to ā€œpass the buckā€, but I couldnā€™t even find a dime to pass.
