Part of the confusion here could be due to an incomplete explanation of fission (the splitting of larger nucleus/nuclei to form smaller nuclei). It was more of a con-fission (confusion about fission).

I’m with Ernest. Chalk, I understand. Used it almost every school day for 25 years. The only thing I ever split was the infinitive. From that point on, all was dust particles.

Confusion is the result of the illegal release of energy.

Con-fusion is that “cold fusion” scam that was foisted several years ago.

Fusion could be the answer to the world’s energy issues. Too bad we have spent more money on solar and wind technologies which do not have the same promise.

I once had a boat that ran using nuclear power.

    It was a ’fission boat.

    Doesn’t ‘confusion’ mean ‘with fusion’?

Fusion involving matter and anti-matter results in a release of energy such that can be used to power FTL vehicles, aka Starships.

Science Fiction is always many steps ahead of reality. Bob Heinlein had the equivalent of the cell phone in his book, “Space Cadet”. Most of the good sci-fi has fusion star drives. We’ll get there some day, but only when someone really wants to. Until then, the powers that be are satisfied with the status quo, the way they are making their money now.

Ooooh, oooh, I have a question! Do you know that the definition of “comprises” is “consists of”, so that “comprised of” means “consisted of of”?

Remember the final scene in the Back to the Future series, when Marty McFly is getting set to take off in his flying car, but it’s a little low on power, so he crams some banana peels into the top of its “Mr. Fusion” tank, and away they go?
