As a teacher during the 70’s to 90’s, I saw the growth of pcs and cell phones and the disruption they caused in the classrooms. Made the job much harder.
I later wondered what life would have been like had we been allowed to close off all cell traffic within the school from 0700 to 4pm. Lots less cheating, more attention to classwork and learning, and perhaps more attention to friendships and just getting along with others.
Recently a local school system has required students to put their phones in locked and shielded pouches for the day. Will be interesting to see how quickly the complaints reach full-on crying and moaning. Wouldn’t be surprised if parents weren’t first in line.

Unless the shutters are just decorative, maybe she should have closed the shutters on the window(s) to his room, too.

the real punishment these days would be to make them go outside and play after taking away all the devices

Good, taking your devices shouldn’t be a punishment it should be a daily accurance.
