People invite me over for dinner but I don’t have leftovers the next day or stuffing that I like. So I generally make up an excuse why I can’t come, but thank them. Most people don’t do candied sweet potatoes or stuffing.
I make dressing with the same recipe my mom did except I cook it outside the bird, she used it as stuffing in the bird. I add drippings from the roasting pan to the dressing just before it goes in the oven so it has the same rich flavor.
I make my own cranberry sauce year-round; it’s the easiest thing in the world, and so much better than the stuff you get in a can. At Thanksgiving I also make cranberry relish, which is very popular in my family as well. But my claim to fame is my cranberry-pumpkin muffins — original recipe courtesy of Ocean Spray, but I use about three times as many cranberries as they tell you to.

Stuffing: Stuff or process? Experts debate.

As long as there’s meat and potatoes … anything beyond that is gravy.

Very funny word play again. : ) and we prefer oyster stuffing to any other. Only time of year we ever get them, so they are truly special.

Make sure the cranberry sauce is still in the shape of the can.

You should still make the stuffing for the taxidermist’s family.
