It’s not hope. Kids don’t usually know better. Adults are supposed to.

Aging is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

No one graduated from Ms. Olsen’s class except Frazz.

Sometimes. Sometimes they don’t.

Caulfield is learning that sometimes just one word spoken at the right moment brings illumination.

It can be much harder to change as an adult.

As a former teacher, I can vouch for Caulfield’s comment…they do grow up…and become amazing people…

It’s the obnoxious adults who’ll tell you how perfect they were as children.

But mostly they don’t.

The obnoxious kids have potential. It’s usually the dull adults who perceive creativity and inquisitiveness as backtalk (and therefore, obnoxious).

Sometimes, yes. But not often enough these days. So it seems, anyway.

It depends on a certain level of obnoxiousness.
