KOMBUCHA: Tea fermented using a symbiosis of bacteria and yeast.

Not easy to give up coffee. Withdrawal headaches are killer.

Both can be made inexpensively at home.

I just dropped prime from, well, you know and a bunch of channels we no longer watch. Much easier than coffee.

Not all that expensive, not all that easy to give up. Still better on both counts than some other vices.

And what does Caulfield have as his expensive, unnecessary indulgence?

Seems to me, greet tea has many of the same benefits but without either the extra work or the smell/taste about which some complain. GT also seems to have fewer possible side/after effects. Gotta wonder if the hype isn’t the biggest thing about it.

Caulfield is trying a bit of reverse psychology to see the effects. Pair a ‘comment’ with a seeming compliment. Works so far. Tomorrow may be different.

If that’s not why – then why?

Well, she’s already quit smoking.

My wife buys bottled water. I refill empty Diet Coke bottles from the tap. Each of us thinks the other is a little weird in that regard.

I gave up Kombucha before I ever tried it.

Having an expensive nonessential indulgence to begin with isn’t exactly brilliant. My home-brew is better than Starbucks.

Maybe Frazz and Mrs Olsen should brainstorm and start a drive-thru Kombucha store.

If it’s really an indulgence, it’s not going to be easy to give it up.
