I used to do a LOT of cycling, and looked a lot like Frazz (although with better hair). Not sure why he calls it “runner’s build”.

A runner’s build depends a lot on the distance. 100/200, middle distance and long distance builds are radically different.

A cyclist’s ego? What a curse that would be!

Swimmer’s coordination would have to be excellent, wouldn’t it? It’s all about form.

Ah, yes, the blatant disregard for others, the signature cyclist move.

Sooner or later Caulfield will recognize when one commits a verbal faux pas, the best course of action is not to explain yourself, but to stop talking.

I try to do a lot of physical activity, at least at my 70+ years. Lucky Frazz has the “runner’s build”. I have the build of a PEAR.

Maybe he’ll have Jef the Cyclist’s ego.

If you flip back to the 2001 and read the first dozen, you’ll find there’s an entirely different relationship between the adult characters. They don’t get along at all. Reading current editions, it is obvious they have mellowed over the intervening years, as is likely in most such situations.

No one but a cyclist has a cyclist ego! Just ask Jef the Cyclist on Pearls before Swine… uh… wait… sorry I brought it up…

Since you’re supposedly a songwriter, do you have anything interesting going on with your hands and fingers suggesting that you might play, for instance, guitar or keyboard? Calluses are a natural part of playing many instruments. String players in general develop them on the tips of their left-hand fingers, and cellists may even have some on their left thumb, which they use to play in the high register. And, depending on technique, “drummer’s digit” is common on the left ring finger.

Don’t think that Frazz has a cyclist’s ego. I remember how mortified he was when a bunch of cyclists ran a stop sign.

What is the „cyclist’s ego“ like? To achieve anything necessary with the sensible minimum of technical help?

A cyclist’s ego… maybe we can ask Stephan Pastis for some confirmation on that.

The only difference swimming would make it bigger deltoids (if he did a lot of butterfly stroke. Othewise, all three of those make you lean and give you endurance but not big muscles.
