Where I went to school they started teaching us to type in first grade. Seriously.

Hey, you’d have trouble reading my cursive notes even if you were familiar with that form of writing. You’d have to know what it was about to roughly interpret it.

As far as I can tell, my cursive is well within the range of what used to be considered normal and readable, if not exemplary. It’s a bit depressing when I have to print to be sure of being understood.

Do they even teach typing any more? I handed down my laptop to my niece so she could at least see a qwerty keyboard up close and get used to using it.

THIS is a pet peeve of mine‼️☹️

Cursive writing should never have been eliminated from the curriculums!

It has its values and artistic movements! Each individual has their own style of writing and words and thoughts can be expressed more thoroughly on paper than verbal communication! It shows individuality, and talent and encourages the thought process to keep going to its maximum‼️

What about one’s personal, individual signature on documents? Printing is for 3rd graders!

But so be it! When I write a card out, or thank you notes, or a letter, I still use cursive! So the recipient has to investigate what was written..

.YES‼️ it’s a code for some…I’ll neva neva neva give up my pen and ink well…ever‼️☺️

That’s what my teachers said about my cursive: Illegible!

i think the reason for it goes back to 3rd grade when the teacher decided that we should all learn the Palmer Method of penmanship, complete with workbooks & specially shaped pens. It was a nightmare!

My former boss complained about my printing being illegible! He insisted that i do my work reports on a computer. He couldn’t read that either!

I’m still mad that my school gave up cuneiform and hieratic hieroglyphs.

Short hand used to be a class of its own. My oldest sister took it and it seemed such a struggle. You know the short end of the stick. When the Boss says take my dictations and copy three times the speed of light.

I’ve changed my signature a few times over the years. My brother still writes cursive the way he learned it in grade school. I think girls experiment more and develop their own style. Some cursive letters are ugly.

I’m studying Teresa’s signature for the first time. It seems to be a combination of cursive and printing. Back to my point. Girls experiment. Teresa’s T is not the T we were taught in school.

I wrote to Teresa’s email. Does she ever answer anyone back? Some cartoonists can be stuck-up.

O ye of the mis-educated new Young Generation! See, how we Old-Timers retain this arcane system as our secret code and use it to maintain our primacy! Let Cursive rule forever! I didn’t go through all those Palmer Penmanship drills in my youthful schooling for naught! Ha ha ha ha hah [diabolical, slightly crazed, laugh]!
