While I’m a staunch fan of Scancarelli’s, this lame idjit is like the Chef Meowrice strips: badly overused. Can we have a strip where he’s set on fire, please?

Someone want to tell the colorist that going by the story-line & a previous one, that his hair & beard are supposed to be white. Another comic site does have it white. How about checking with the actual artist, Mr. Scancarelli?

Well, at least we’re getting someone to react with the Benny hand-on-the-cheek bit. Everyone else just gets angry (including us).

Frank Nelson. Margaret Dumont. Franklin Pangborn. Edgar Kennedy. (To name a few.)

    .

It’s fitting to remember that great comedy characters typically have great antagonists. Their work should be admired, in retrospect.

I recall a character exactly like this on the old Jack Benny show(or could be a memory problem-mine)Also recall a character just like this in a British comedy that took place in the men’s section of a large Dept store which I enjoyed far to many years ago.

The character you recall was Frank Nelson – there is nothing wrong with your memory. He was on the Jack Benny program for 30 years (and a few others like the Lucy show). The audiences in those days actually greeted his appearances with applause. Every good comedian needs a foil.

I suppose the British comedy you are thinking of might be “Are you being served?”

Anyhow, this character doesn’t really appear that often and he amuses older readers who can remember how Frank delivered his lines.

For a 71 year old, I haven’t heard of Chip having grandkids. His younger sister Clovia has (adoptive) grandkids who are featured often. I haven’t heard of Gretchen being married or having kids. …
