What Ratatouille lacks in depth is equally vacuous in taste. Yes I said it! We emerged from a state of scarcity after the War Years only to be told we need to ration for the “Greater Good”. And the overlords, The Globalists, suggest there are too many of us. Rather than a rodent as a chef. It is suggested that ‘it’ should be an entree’ with insects as the appetizer. So sharpen you’re knives knaves. The worst is yet to come. Don’t forget your breath mints.
It was about fifty years ago that I used to follow a film critic in the local newspaper religiously! She wrote her reviews with the hauteur of a Marie Antoinette toward a hungry crowd. Any film she praised, I avoided like the plague (1963’s Cleopatra comes to mind). Any film she panned, I cancelled all other recreations to attend (Taxi Driver of 1977). I eventually came to the conclusion that, to this reviewer, any film an audience might actually enjoy must perforce be a “bad” one, whereas any movie that utterly baffled, bored, confused, or (best of all) did all three to viewers (and reviewers alike) must be a brilliant one. Which all goes to show, even critics have their function, even if they don’t exactly know what that function is.
More often than not, I like the movies that the critics panned, and I hate the movies the critics loved. I really don’t care what they say, because I’ll watch it if it sounds interesting, and then make up my own mind. It’s all so subjective anyway.

I wonder if there is someone out there judging our comments here so harshly?

“No Country For Old Men” is one of the great movies of the last fifty years. Even I would get angry reading a bad review of it.

Twelve years later, Rob would’ve said re-education camps instead of deportation.

“Oh, my God!" Ignatius bellowed from the front of the (movie) house. "What an egregious insult to good taste.”

Is it possible to deport one’s own citizens? I assume these are local critics.
