“Girl on Football Team” was done in the 1970’s. Around 1974 I think.

She’s sleeveless in the first panel (unless that’s someone else) and not in the third. If she could change clothes in the time it took that pass to come down, maybe she really is fast enough.

Girl on football team has usually been done with the girl being a kicker or even a QB. As a tight end, that may be a first. Gil Thorp setting trends again.

Meanwhile, Katz is thinking “I’d like to see just how tight that end is…”

And if it’s not Heather in the first panel, it makes no sense.

Does Bob take his diamond ear studs out to throw, or did one just explode from his ear lobe from this tremendous effort? By catching this is she now the Receivers Coach, or already first string wide receiver? Has Coach Gil ditched the 1958 playbook and gone with a 5 receiver set?

In all reality , Gil and Kaz will have to sell the idea of Heather playing varsity football to her Dad. One look at those two creeps and Dad gets his shotgun out and also à protection order .

I’d have gone for the rugby player over a soccer player if I was looking for a tight end myself.

Where is Kaz’ Pam Anderson barb wire tat? 1995 wants it back. He reminds me of Jeff Bridges in “Thunderbolt & Lightfoot.” If Heather is too slow for girls soccer, how would she compete on the gridiron? Does she get her own private shower?

Let me see if I’ve got this straight. Heather played soccer most of her life, a game where only the goalie is allowed to use his/ her hands, then she tapes a few ankles and now she’s suddenly got stickier fingers than Barry Bader. Makes as much sense as the peacock.

And while I’m here, this is a team with at least 5 QB’s but only one tight end? The coaches showing up more hasn’t made them better.

Wouldn’t Menzie the rugby player make more sense as the tight end? Then again, with Max Ortiz demanding 60% of all offensive plays going towards him, there should be no need for a WR4 or TE position.

Bitsy is one step closer to winning her bet as the Cubs attempt to keep the curse alive.

A new record for subliminal cliches! Let’s combine Elisburke’s comment with Chiphilton and mine: Kaz is making a pass at Heather because he heard she was fast. He’s pitching (wrong sport) and she’s catching. I wonder if Kaz hopes she’s a bruiser?

Is thatt her twin brother (rockin’ the John Daley look) making the catch? Or did she want to play in goal (those good hands) but the Milford coaches ( that AD is clueless) were too inept to see it? I still can’t get over having a fifth-string QB. I thought her speed was deficient, so now she’ll be a receiver? A third-down TE? The coaching genius of State Champion Gil will be revealed.

Kaz has the offensive game plan completely wrong. Since Pelwicki offered to learn the QB position, Gil had him practice handoffs before running any passing plays. Considering this, and what De Windt was doing; Heather should be throwing blocks, not running routes first.

Kaz shoulda drilled it to her mid-section with a John Elway velocity bullet pass.

…a few things to get off my chest, gents…

First, Coach Kazhole better be careful of the unsupervised fraternization with a female underclassman, I don’t think Dr. Pearl will look kindly on this.

Second, as a Cub fan for over 50 years nothing surprises me, there is a stench of impending doom that surrounds any of us who lived (and died) through 1969, 1984, 1989, 2003, etc.

Last, sign man wasn’t behind the plate he was above the third base dugout…and what was the deal with his “traveling” call that he was making? Maybe he came from the Cav’s game next door?

The 1975/80 SNL version of Gil Thorp

    Gil – Chevy Chase

    Kaz – Dan Akroyd

    Dr. Pearl – Gilda Radner

    Mimi – Jane Curtin

Tru( E ) – John Belushi (hey he was short and fat but athletic!)

    Ken Brown – Garrett Morris

“B” Stat Whiz – Dan Akroyd

Not sure what inspired that. Leaving now to watch series!
