So you have to admit the story has an awesome twist. Maybe you thought Linda was upset about volleyball because it was a time sink and too much like a job to get her scholarship, or maybe her softball teammates didn’t think it was cool, like training for the Ice Capades or having your very own blog! But, no, it’s that she is not good enough as 17- or 18-year-old to qualify for the U.S. Olympic team! But Gil has the answer—the suicide hotline number and Prozac. Worked for Mike Fillion!
P2- Now we know why GilPa has been MIA. This storyline has taken his breath away. His once promising baseball team merely a flickering sideshow, plays out the string.
Speaking of strings, how I long for the good old days of Derek “Slim” Chance and The Longshots.
Is that a talking softball in the last panel or is that a very small alien to the right (reader’s left) of the ball doing the talking? It does look like a little person.
We finally get to see Gil after what seems forever, but he has been mute. Gil’s mouth held hostage – day 59! And speaking of waits, the wait for yesterday and today’s versions of Mopped Up Thorp is finally over. Although not many of you will see this at this late hour.

“No one understands the staggering physicality of collecting stamps! I deserve that button!” ;)

Sorry, no amount of suspending disbelief would make me think a stamp collector expected to be admired for coolness.

P1, So what, you told her to join the Army, Mimi?
P2, Which means this sad story isn’t over yet.
P3, Hmm, looks like this is a girls-only club, Harold.

Did Gil go mute during his extended absence? Or just not able to get a word in edgewise? Or maybe just dumbfounded at the stupidity of it all

The 1998 Calgary Canadian Football League team was a great collection of Stamps.

P1: Gil suppresses a laugh at Mimi’s lame advice. Always strive for second place, Gil muses.
